First Confession
All 2nd class pupils will make their First Confession next Thursday night at 7.30pm in Matehy
Church. Please give you children their Baptisimal Candles to bring school by Monday at the
latest. Children should wear their full school uniform and also bring their small candle and
Thumb.
Non-contact Rugby
Willie Schubert, from Munster Rugby, will be here tomorrow for non-contact rugby training.
Children from 3rd to 6th class will be involved in the training. Children should have gear (shorts,
socks, tops, boots/runners) as the training will be in the field.
Piano Repair
Many thanks to Martina Sheehan who donated a 200 cheque for repairs to the Piano in the
school, proceeds from the Come Dine With Me that she and her friends organised in the
Strand Bar recently. Thanks also to Rita ORegan who donated 300 proceeds from the Card
Drive. The Card Drive money will be put towards the garden.
Rapunzel Foundation
A big thank you to everybody who supported Niamh Buckley who donated her hair to the
Rapunzel Foundation. A massive 189.00 was raised well done Niamh!
Sniffer Dogs
We were delighted to get a visit from Garda Patrick from the dog Handlers Unit on Monday
morning. He introduced us to Snipe, a 10 year old, English Springer Spaniel. Snipe is from the
area originally and has been a very successful sniffer dog. He has found drugs, guns and
money. The second dog we met was a12 month old Labrador called Rex. He is a sniffer in
training. We all learned so much and had great fun. Go raibh maith agat, Garda Patrick.
Chess
John Alfred visited the school on Monday to deliver a chess workshop for pupils from 3 rd class
to 6th class. Many thanks to the Parents Association who paid for the class and have bought 6
additional chess sets.
Seachtain na Gaeilge
As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, we are holding our annual Cil. Thanks to Mick Looney and
Sam OBrien again for playing the music. Well be doing the usual activities e.g. seahfhocail,
amhrin, cluich, trth na gceist. Were attaching a Gaeilge do Thuismitheoir sheet for you
to be practicing at home. There are prizes for those who make the effort. Go nir an t-dh
libh go leir.
