September:
Reading: Assessment 4th & 5th NO SCHOOL
This week we focused on taking the beginning of year
iReady assessment which will guide instruction for your 18th Grandparents Lunch
student. We also took the baseline reading, 19th School Pictures
comprehension, vocabulary, and writing assessment 26th Chilis Fundraiser
for our literacy curriculum Ready Gen. 28th PBIS Assembly

Writing: Assessment Celebrations
Your student was able to take a baseline assessment
this week to show their writing skills. They were asked
to write to an opinion prompt, a narrative prompt, and
to integrate information from two texts to create a two-

Math: Math Unit 4 You will be able to catch all the latest
We will begin the year working on addition and on whats happening in 3rd grade on
subtraction problems with regrouping strategies as we our website!

Science: Life Cycles
We began our first science unit on life cycles. We set
up our science notebooks which will track all of our
thinking throughout the year and began our first
experiment! Growing lima beans to observe the plant
life cycle.

We are looking for volunteers! Several of you signed up that you are interested in
helping in the classroom and at home, thank you! Please look in your students Friday
folder: fill out the volunteer sheet and return on Monday along with the Friday folder. We
will set up a volunteer schedule and send it out this coming week! Our plan is to begin
with volunteers in the classroom no later than September 11th.
