. Abstract Contemporary methodology, or the
structural conservation of the paintings on canvas support, energed in second half of 20 th century. It
was founded on discovery of synthetic resins, vacuum-tables, applied and scientific approach to
conservation process, and also on examination of original and reconstructive materials. At the of the
century, methodology widened the possibilities for applying of the treatments with humidity and
doctrine of preservation of the original back of the paintings on canvas. Development and application of
contemporary methods, in spite of certain traditionalistic resistances, has became a part of the standard
practice in all important centers for conservation, as well as a part of anu faculty programme in Western
Balkans. . : ,
