Greetings and warm regards to all
our faithful Amped4Life supporters.
We trust your 2018 has been
productive and that you are keeping
warm and well as we plunge into
winter. The heater seems to be
getting a lot of use at present. Mid-
year and a lot has been happening

Seth has settled into school well in
Term 2 & 3 at Tauranga Boys College.
He is growing like a weed and eating
us out of house and home. His
schooling is progressing and achieving
consistently. He spends some of his
down time playing League of Legends
and chilling out at home. Badminton
keeps him fit and active at school. He
will be 15 in October
Ella has had a bright and positive
start during her time as a Yr. 9 [That’s
3rd Form] at Bethlehem College.
She is still with Amy Yorke at Dance
Avenue where she continues to enjoy
contemporary style dancing. Her
brother is now taller than her which
was inevitable eventually, much to her
annoyance. She is very social and is
still very much involved in dance, at
BC. She is in five different roles in the
school production in mid-August so
we are all excited to see the finished
product. Ella is a delightful girl who
has great friends and is connected to
2 youth groups each week. She loves
life and is a ray of sunshine around the
home.

Karen continues to work at Tauranga
hospital as a health care assistant on
flexi bureau. She is working around my
schedule to help me do what I do but
also bring in an extra income which
assists in paying the bills and running
a home. I value and appreciate the
commitment my wife has to our kids
and to supporting me and facilitating
things when I am away from home.
Term 2 & 3 have been full on with
34 appointments completed.
Substance abuse and addiction is an
escalating problem and Amped4Life
continues to offer programs and
seminars that add value to Schools,
community and Industry. I am
passionate about continuing our life-
giving message to any and all that
require our services.
2018 has been extremely busy
sorting out new appointments and
speaking engagements in schools,
community agencies and other
organisations as well as following
up with an onslaught of regular
paperwork and administration,
fundraising and other chores that
need doing.
M.A.G.S- Mount Albert
Grammar School
We have a great relationship with Pat
Drumm and the teaching faculty from
MAGS [Mt Albert Grammar School]
for many Years now. Amped4Life has
worked alongside the PE/Health Dept.
delivering health class presentations
and also sharing positive and life
giving messages to the wider school,
at larger assemblies during 2018
Tom Murdoch [Deputy Principal]
asked Amped4Life to come and
deliver assemblies to the Year 12
cohort. We had a fantastic morning
and as a result, many were impacted
and challenged by the Amped4Life
message. What an opportunity.

Raglan –Survival
Camp
My brother Mike runs a camp at
Raglan up on the hill which is open
to 7-16 year olds during the holidays
and is rented out by schools and
other groups throughout the year
to utilise this wonderful facility and
have it occupied as much as possible
throughout the year.
I always try and take time out of our
busy Amped4Life schedule to make
time for family and helping my brother
out. Survival camp runs for seven days
and has an age catchment of 11-16
years of age. I was asked to create
a workshop teaching life skills and
sharing the realities and dangers of
substance abuse and to help them
think about their decisions and guide
and empower them by making better
choices for life. I was in charge of 7
students and at the end of the week
many new and lasting friendships
had been made. Thanks Mike for the
awesome opportunity to share

Westlake Girls
College -Yr. 13
methamphetamine
module
I was again invited to present an hour
long module on the ongoing blight
of methamphetamine addiction, and
give an educational and informative
talk which helps the Year 13 yr. level
which contributes toward their unit
standards in their health and PE
curriculum for the year. This is always
a wonderful opportunity to get up
close and personal with students
in a more interactive capacity. The
students become extremely engaged
and vulnerable. We saw some
great response as a result. Thanks

contribute in your student’s growth
and personal development. I will also
be delivering a Yr. 12 Assembly on
“CHOICES” during Term 3 which we

Otumoetai
Intermediate School –
Yr. 8 Assembly
Every year Henk Popping’s, principal
of Otumoetai Intermediate school
asks Amped4Life to come and inspire
the Year 8 group to prepare them to
proactively think about their choices
in regard to situations they may face
during the challenging teenage years.
Henk has been a staunch supporter
and advocate of Amped4Life for many
years and accommodates me so I can
come and deliver the “Destination
by design Message “which is always
warmly received by the students

Northland Tour June
2018
We had a flurry of schools booked in
Northland in Term 2. This tour was
facilitated and brought about by
my nephew’s in laws, - Sarah & Tim
Workman who worked tirelessly to
make this happen. A huge heartfelt
thanks for all of your love and
commitment to me personally and
also Amped4Life. They wanted to
promote the Amped4Life message to
the far North and provide a resource
for those who wouldn’t necessarily
get the opportunity. We have left the
students with much to think about
and put into practice. We will be
back.

We delivered 9 presentations in total over a 4 day

period which included 1 Assembly at Okaihau College,
2 assemblies at Kamo High School, 2 x Assemblies at
Whangarei Boys College and 2 assemblies at Kaitaia High
School.
