ABOUT THE COMPANY

2.1 ABOUT JIO-
2.1 Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited is an Indian mobile network operator.
Owned by Reliance Industries and headquartered in Navi
Mumbai, Maharashtra, it operates a national LTE network with coverage across
all 22 telecom circles. Jio does not offer 2G or 3Gservice, and instead
utilizes voice over LTE to provide voice service on its network.
Jio soft launched on 27 December 2015 (the eve of what would have been the
83rd birthday of Reliance Industries founder Dhirubhai Ambani), with a beta for
partners and employees, and became publicly available on 5 September 2016.
On 5 July 2018, fixed line broadband service named Gigafiber, was launched by
the Reliance Industries Limited's chairman Mukesh Ambani, during the
company's Annual General Meeting.
JIO since its launch has provided free and unlimited phone calling to all over
India to any network. In response a few other telecom provider have also started
providing free calling service to its subscribers.
Jio will transform the digital future of India with its below pillars:

Coverage:
Jio is committed to provide coverage across urban and major rural areas. Jio is
aiming to cover 90% of India's population in the next 18-24 months.

Quality:
Jio will offer HD quality voice to its subscribers with instantaneous call connect
capability. Superior data experience will be offered to the subscribers, which
includes fastest page download, highest peak download speed in the industry,
video streaming without buffering & real time gaming experience.

Affordability:
The key idea is to make internet accessible and affordable to consumers in all
parts of the country. Jio will significantly up the quantity, quality and coverage
of broadband internet while lowering the cost to the user.

Jio will play a key role in the digital development of India – with applications
for everything from education to healthcare, security to financial services,
technology to entertainment.

Shri. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Industries Ltd. says, "Jio is about
bringing people together, safely and securely. It is about inspiring people to join
a movement – the digital India movement. Jio is about you and your family,
friends, community and all Indians together in a movement to embrace and win
in the digital world."
2.2 VISION-

Reliance Jio's vision for India: Broadband will no longer be a luxury.

2.3 MISSION-

To realize digital India vision, ensure Indians have highest quality and quantity
data access at majority affordable prices.

2.4 OPERATIONS-

Jio owns spectrum over 22 cities and total of 2,300 MHz Pan India. It is valid
until 2035
2.5 SOMETHING ABOUT THE HISTORY OF JIO-
In June 2010, Reliance Industries (RIL) bought a 96% stake in Infotel
Broadband Services Limited (IBSL) for ₹4,800 crore (US$700 million).
Although unlisted, IBSL was the only company that won broadband spectrum in
all 22 circles in India in the 4G auction that took place earlier that year. Later
continuing as RIL's telecom subsidiary, Infotel Broadband Services Limited was
renamed as Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) in January 2013.
In June 2015, Jio announced that it would start its operations all over the
country by the end of 2015. However, four months later in October, the
company's spokesmen sent out a press release stating that the launch was
postponed to the first quarter of the financial year 2016–2017.
Later in July, a PIL filed in the Supreme Court by an NGO called the Centre for
Public Interest Litigation, through Prashant Bhushan, challenged the grant of
pan-India licence to Jio by the Government of India. The PIL also alleged that
Jio was allowed to provide voice telephony along with its 4G data service, by
paying an additional fees of just ₹165.8 crore (US$24 million) which was
arbitrary and unreasonable, and contributed to a loss of ₹2,284.2
crore (US$330 million) to the exchequer.
The Indian Department of Telecom (DoT), however, refuted all of CAG's
claims. In its statement, DoT explained that the rules for 3G and BWA spectrum
didn't restrict BWA winners from providing voice telephony. As a result, the PIL
was revoked, and the accusations were dismissed

4.About the research

4.1Purpose of research
Our world is rapidly changing and many aspects of our lives have become
‘digital’. Business models across industries have changed almost
overnight through innovative applications of digital technologies. In this
‘new normal’, business leaders are evaluating traditional strategies and
operating models from a fresh ‘digital’ lens. In this scenario, it is important
to provide the current generation of students with the right set of skills
and make them ready for the challenges of the future. Towards that end,
Reliance Jio has designed a one-of-its-kind learning program - Digital
Champions.

ROLE
‘Digital Champions’ Program is designed as a pragmatic learning program that rests on the
philosophy of learning by doing. Students would be required to:
1 .Study the SMB sectors of their choice
2. Formulate hypotheses
3. Conduct field visits to collect relevant data points
4. Analyze the data points, synthesize findings and finally derive insights.

Students are expected to pick up significant analytical, communication, research and

interpersonal skills at the end of their projects.

 All participants will have to download the Microsoft Kaizala app on their smartphone
and register themselves using the Jio number that Jio would provide you on the day
of induction or existing Jio number. Once done, we required to upload all project
related documents in our Kaizala app.

What deliverables we need submit during the project?

There are three deliverables for each SMB visited:
1.Digital Questionnaire –This contains a set of questions that we need
to ask during your interaction with the SMB. Then as per the noted
answers in the workbook, fill it on Kaizala app properly and upload it after
the interaction is over.
2.SMB details –we need to fill it at the SMB location only just after
completing the interaction. Fill it in the workbook first.

3.“Know your SMB” –we need to upload the filled SMB Worksheet (as
per the template provided to you) by clicking a photograph after the
interaction is over.

In addition to this, Jio will also be sending us surveys on Kaizala.
