A. Introductory Activity Opening Prayer, Attendance Checking, Seating Arrangement
Ask the student:
What are the things that you see around you?
B. Awareness How are you going to describe those things?
What is matter?
Let the student find their partner.
C. Activity Each partner will compare the difference between Mixtures, Compound and Elements
They are going to use the table provided by the teacher.
After the activity, each partner will present their tasks, and ask:
 What are the examples of Elements?
D. Analysis
 How about Mixtures? And Compounds?
 How are they related to each other? Explain.
Teacher will give a follow-up questions about the topic and ask some necessary questions:
E. Abstraction What is matter made of?
How does the particle model of matter explain some observed properties and changes in matter?
How are you going to describe matter in our daily living? Especially those objects or even those

G. Assessment What is matter in your own idea?
Let the students bring the following materials for the next activity:
1 teaspoon sugar in a plastic cup or small beaker
H. Assignment ½ cup tapwater 1 piece, stone or small rock 1 piece, ball (basketball, volleyball, or small beach ball)
3 pieces of leaves (from any plant or tree) 5 small wide-mouthed bottles or cups or 150-mL or 200-
mL beakers 1 platform balance or weighing scale 1 small air pump
