Sing song with steady beat
Review what that new rhythm is – “silence”
Sing and tap rhythm
Sing and play game

Sing whole song to review
Count number of “silences”
Have rhythm at the board and leave a space for “silence”
Show new rhythm (quarter rest) and how to draw
Fill in blank spots with a quarter rest!
