1. Goal: To practice so, mi, la, do; practice ta and ti ti; present quarter rest

2. Objectives: SWBAT
 ID beat vs. rhythm
 ID/read/perform ta and ti ti in songs and patterns
 ID solfege notes and place on the music staff
 ID a song by its rhythm

3. Materials: smd melody Cards

4. Procedure

1. Hello’s (slsm)

2. Melody Card Warm-Up


 Sing smd patterns on staff

3. Bell Horses
 Sing song with steady beat
 Review what that new rhythm is – “silence”
 Sing and tap rhythm
 Sing and play game

4. 1, 2, 3
 Sing whole song to review
 Count number of “silences”
 Have rhythm at the board and leave a space for “silence”
 Show new rhythm (quarter rest) and how to draw
 Fill in blank spots with a quarter rest!

5. Bow Wow Wow (NEW!)


 T. sings and asks questions
 Students echo with beat
 T. sings and students listen for how many “silent” spots there are
 Students echo with rhythm tappers
 Sing whole song?

6. Listen and Move! (or other movement activity)
