Leadership Goals

I will develop my leadership in Teaching and Learning in Mathematics

 GOAL: Encourage student engagement in Algebra II by working in groups (specifically at


white boards).
 RATIONALE: According to Emelina Minero in Using Collaborative Learning to Build
Student Agency student understanding and engagement increases when students are
involved in collaborative-problem solving.
 NBPTS: Proposition 1: Teachers are committed to students and their learning.
 TLMD: Domain IV: Promotes instructional strategies that address issues of diversity and
equity in the classroom and ensures that individual student learning needs remain the central
focus of instruction.
 OBJECTIVE: Develop student skills to collaborate and understand mathematics. (Long-
Term)
 TEACHER INQUIRY: I will develop my skills in teaching facilitating group work.

I will develop my leadership in Student Assessment in Mathematics

 GOAL: Ensure students can support their understanding of academic content through
written arguments.
 RATIONALE: According to Heather Wolpert-Gawron in Argumentative Writing is a Key
Focus in Common Core Standards academic content should be learned through discussion
and writing.
 NBPTS: Proposition 3: Teachers are responsible for managing and monitoring student
learning.
 TLMD: Domain 2: Accessing and Using Research to Improve Practice and Student
Learning; Facilitates the analysis of student learning data, collaborative interpretation of
results, and application of findings to improve teaching and learning;
 OBJECTIVE: Add conceptual questions in formative and summative assessments. (Long-
Term)

I will develop my leadership in Curriculum

 GOAL: Identify common learning goals across departments related to the skills necessary
for student growth
 RATIONALE: Deeper Learning: Why Cross-Curricular Teaching is Essential
 NBPTS: Proposition 5: Teachers are members of learning communities.
 TLMD: Domain I: Fostering a Collaborative Culture to Support Educator Development and
Student Learning
 OBJECTIVE: Participate in Cross-Curricular Skills Committee and collaborate with
professional colleagues. (1 to 2 years)
