I. Objective:

At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:

1. enumerate modals and their uses;


2. identify the appropriate modal for a statement.

II. Content:

A. Subject Matter: Modal Auxiliaries


B. Reference: English Workbook, pages 188-189.
C. Material: Power point presentation, chalk and board

III. Procedure:

A. Daily Routine: Checking of attendance


B. Review: There is a review of the past lesson.
C. Lesson Development:
 The teacher shows three sentences:
I love you.
I will love you.
I must love you.
 The students tell what differences do they see – in structure and meaning.
 The teacher introduces modal auxiliaries and their uses
 Students enumerate the modals they know.
 Discussion follows.
 The teacher gives a drill.

IV. Evaluation:

 The students take an activity: the first is enumeration of modals and its uses;
the second one is supplying the appropriate modal to complete a sentence.

V. HOMEWORK:

Use the modals in a sentence.
