Human reproduction

Humans reproduce sexually. The male produces sperms and the female produces eggs.

The process of fusion of male and female gametes is called as fertilization.

In humans, sperms travel through the vagina, cervix and travel up to the fallopian tubes
(oviducts). 
Here, only one sperm succeeds to penetrate the outer coverings of the ovum and the
male nucleus fuses with the female nucleus.
Thus, two haploid nuclei fuse to form a diploid zygote, which undergoes further divisions
and gives rise to an embryo/fetus.
