HISTORY OF TGIF

Alan Stillman a perfume salesman, opened the first T.G.I.Fridays restaurant to meet the single
"Stewardess" who lived in his neighborhood

The first Friday's restaurant opened March 15th 1965 at First Avenue and 63rd street in New York
City

According to legend,Alan Stillman came up with the name T.G.I.Friday's he was skiing with the friend
in the Catskills when he wiped out.Out of frustration, he supposedly said to his friend "Thank
Goodness It's Friday!"At the point, his friend suggested he call it that!

Alan Stillman got the first "stripes" uniform shirts from a soccer supply store.

Alan Stillman would liked hire out-of-work actors and macho men who liked to have fun to work at
Friday's because hefelt they had great personalities. At the time in New York,most other restaurant
had "stuffy"waiters

According to Newsweek,the opening of T.G.I.Friday's in the United State was the dawn of the single
era
