NARRATIVE REPORT

WEEK 1
May 7, 2019 - TUESDAY
It is our first day of On-Job-Training in NIA (National Irrigation Association)
Cauayan. Our training for 240 hours handled by the IIMO (Isabela Irrigation
Management Office) and we arrived at 7:45 am then assign to sort out the files of the
workers in the Administrative Office at 8:00 am. It is a whole day sorting out the files of
Personal Data Sheet(PDS), Memorandum/Memorandum Circular, Transcript of Record
(TOR), Trainings and Seminars, Live Birth/Marriage Contract, Notice of Salary
Adjustment (NOSA), Health Concerns and Applications. At 5:00 pm we finished sorting
out the files and go home.

May 8, 2019 - WEDNESDAY


The second day of our OJT, we start it by evaluating the given plans of its
structural plans, architectural plans, estimate and S-Curve. At 12:00 pm we have our
lunch then we go back to the office at 1:00 pm. We wait for further instructions, the 2 of
us called to sort out files in the Administrative Office then we left to wait for another
instruction. One of the engineers in the Isabela IMO payed our attention and informed us
that we will be having our field investigation with 2 teams. One team is assigned in the
Tumaini and the other team is in Cabagan. At 3:45 pm another 2 trainees called to help in
sorting out the files and finished it at 5:15 pm.

May 9, 2019 – THURSDAY


The third day of our training is the day full of excitement. I was part of the Team
Cabagan with Engr. Pinky Martin. We start our travel at 6:55 am to the office of Tumaini
Irrigation System for the confirmation of Travel Order then we arrived at 8:05 am. One of
the engineers in the office were accompanied us in the San Antonio, Delfin Albano
Communal Pump House. There are 2 pumps in the house. We had a field investigation
for the repair of the pump and one of the pump having a siltation. We continue our field
investigation in San Pablo, Cabagan. At 9:40 am we arrived in the office of Cabagan
Irrigation System and one of them accompanied to visit the source and service area of the
request generator set for the downstream service area because of the lack of water. At
11:20 am we’ve done visiting the source of water, service area and end check then we
take our lunch. At 1:30 pm, we go back to the office NIA Cauayan to report and we
arrived at 3:00 pm.

May 10, 2019 – FRIDAY


This is the last day of the week and we come to the office at 7:55 am. We wait for
the instructions of Engr. Ma. Salette H.Gumpal, the head of the Chief Engineering unit of
Isabela-IMO. Engr. Denden instructs us to plot the cross section of lateral canals
(Canadam Irrigation Project) and at 11:00 am we go for our lunch and back at 1:30 pm.
In the afternoon duty, only few engineers are in the office because other engineers
including Engr. Ma. Salette had their meeting and there is no given task for us so at 3:00
pm we decide to go home.
WEEK 2
May 14, 2019 – TUESDAY
Today we come to the office at 7:50 am and this is the first day of our second
week so all the workers of NIA Cauayan had a flag ceremony starts at 8:00 am. Back to
the offices continue working after the ceremony so with us trainees. The engineers of
Isabela IMO were too busy to accompany us so we stayed at their lobby then take our
lunch at 11:00 am and back to the office at 1:00 pm. When we go back for the afternoon
of our duty we still wait till time passed. At 4:00 pm we go home.
May 15, 2019 - WEDNESDAY
We start the day with smile at greetings and coming in the office before 8:00 am.
Today we assign to measure the as built warehouse in the NIA CAUAYAN compound
then we started it at 9:00 am then we come back to the office to do the sketch and try it
with autocad.
May 16, 2019 – Thursday
I came to office today early. We, the trainees, go to the office of the Head Office
of the Chief in Engineering unit Engr. Ma. Salette H. Gumplal for our duty but she
assigned us to focus on practicing autocad inside the office and she will going to call us
for more instructions. So we take our lunch at 12:00 noon and back to office at 1:00 pm.
We continue our duty till 5:00 pm and go home.
May 17, 2019 – Friday
Today I was assigned to go in Bantug, Angadanan to assist Engr. Charmaine
Majel Panaligan for checking actual accomplishment of on-going repair of canal lining
then visit its source and the pump house. I was with 3 more OJTs in ISA-IMO. At 9:00
am we go there and at 3:00 pm finished almost 2 km. of it, in checking we will identify if
that station either RnR (Repair and replace) or repair. Then we go home after.
WEEK 3
May 20 2019 – Monday
Today is monday so we had a flag ceremony. We come to office after then assign
to estimate a main canals and turnouts project named Canadam Irrigation System in
Maconacon, Isabela. Its concrete mix and numbers of bars needed in a certain station.
The whole day of estimation of materials then we leave at 5:00 pm.
May 21, 2019 – Tuesday
Today has nothing new, coming to the office before 8:00 am then continuing the
work yesterday then going home at 5:00 pm.
May 22, 2019 – Wednesday
Today I was assign to do works in cashiering office. Sorting files with Ma’am
Corazon Padua for a half day and for the afternoon duty I came back to the office of
Isabela IMO for estimate that I’ve start since monday. At 5:00 pm we leave the office.
May 23, 2019 - Thursday
I come to office before 8:00 am and approach Engr. Maria Salette H. Gumpal for
our task today. She assigned most of us to practice Autocad inside the office for whole
day. Then we gome home at 5:00 pm.
May 24, 2019 – Friday
Today we are assigned to photocopy Tumaini River Multi-Purpose Project
(3copies each lateral canal plans and estimate). We do copying those papers for a whole
day and laughing that OJT experience will be most of it. It was a good day in the office
with punchers, fastener and bond papers. Then I got home after 5:00 pm.
WEEK 4
May 27,2019 – Monday
After the flag ceremony we continue photocopying and sorting files of the
estimate of irrigation project in Tumaini, Isabela. Another whole day sitting beside the
copying machine. Today we finish all the papers and go home 5:00 pm.
May 28,2019 – Tuesday
I come to office at 7:50 am. we, the trainees, wait for 2 hours for the instructions
of the Head of the Chief in Engineering Unit of Isabela IMO. Then she instructs us to
assist Ms. Lanie to rewrite the stocks (office materials, janitors materials, equipment and
etc.) needed in the office. It was another whole day rewriting then we go home at 5:00
pm.
May 29,2019 – Wednesday
So today I come to office before 8:00 am .We continue our work from yesterday
and we finish it till 5:00 pm. For me it was a tiring day writing all those materials but I
still practice writing skills.
May 30,2019 – Thursday
For this day I decided not to come in the office because Im not feeling well, I am
suffering for painful urination.
May 31,2019- Friday
So today, we are scheduled to go assist arrange the office material in the stock
room. We label the cabinets, encode the materials, its code number and what its brands. It
was whole day and at 5:00 pm we go home.
WEEK 5
June 3,2019 – Monday
Today we come to office at 7:45 am and straight to the field for the flag
ceremony. Then we back to office to talk the head of the engineering unit for what are we
going to do for this day. Me and Ken Arroyo are assign to go with Ma’am Majel and
Ma’am Beth in San Agustin, Isabela for the inspection of the turnouts and pools. We start
travelling from the office to San, Agustin at 10:30 am and arrived at 12:00 noon then we
eat for our lunch. We travel again for one and a half hour to the turnouts. We finished
measuring the built 20 turnouts and pools exactly 6:00 pm around barangay Sto.
Domingo, Dibuluan and Minuri. We got home 8:30 pm dizzy and tired.
June 4,2019 – Tuesday
After tiring duty yesterday in San Agustin, Isabela we still come to office early at
7:45am but we notice that only few engineers come to the office and the head of the
engineering didn’t give any instructions, so we just try to make a turnouts and pools in
autocad whole day.
June 5,2019 – Wednesday
No work for today.
June 6,2019 - Thursday
Today I and Ken Arroyo assigned in field with Engr. Frank, a geodetic engineer,
Sir Joe, a surveyor and Sir Charlie, the rodman. At exactly 9:00 am we go to the Brgy.
Antagan, Tumaini for leveling and we arrived at 10:30 am. Then we start and we finish
two turning points before we took out lunch, at first it was hard and tiring because I can’t
contain the weather and it’s unusual for me. But at the end of the day we still finish 18
turning points and it’s more than 1 kilometer. A great experience and achievement for
today.
June 7, 2019 – Friday
Today is friday, our free day in the office. We can do what we want because
Ma’am Salette did not gave any things to do so we spend chatting with the engineers in
the office. Knowing them is a good thing for me. In the afternoon duty I spend doing
works in autocad then we go home at 5:00 pm.
WEEK 6
June 10,2019 – Monday
I come to office at 7:50 am and straight to flag ceremony. After the flag ceremony
we go to the office of Ma’am Salette for our task fot today. She told us to do our student
work like narrative reports as part of completion of training her at NIA Cauayan and she
said that we are assigned to go in San Agustin for the whole week to visit Dibuluan River
Irrigation Project, Dabubu River Irrigation Project and other built structure. After any
minute there are two additional OJTs from the ISU Ilagan and we start chatting with
them. And that’s my whole day activity. We leave the office at 5:00 pm.
June 11,2019 – Tuesday
I start my day early to prepare my things for the whole stay in San Agustin. At
9:30 am we start traveling to San Agustin NIA office and arrived at 11:30 am. We meet
Engr. Elmar which is the head in the office in NIA San Agustin and he gave simple
instructions in the area for us to be safe. For our afternoon activity, we are divide by two
groups and I was part to estimate a sample Drainage Culvert and finish with the
concreting. At 4:30 pm they instruct us to go with our designated rooms and rest.
June 12,2019 – Wednesday
A holiday but we still have our visit with two dams in San Agustin property.
Masaya Sur Dam, still not operating because there is no steel gate and pulley yet. Next
we go to Dabubu Dam, this is a gravity dam with an intake. The intake is open and it was
fun seeing the irrigable areas of it.
June 13,2019 – Thursday
We are assigned in field for this day. We are accompanied by Sir Dondon and
Paul. Then we go in the Dibulan river and take a look in the constructed intake,
tunnels(8kms.), open flume and the excavated area for the construction of last tunnels
before the laterals. For the afternoon, we visit the drainage culvert, long siphon, road
crossing, RI drop and more structures which is the part of DIRIP. And that’s my day full
of informations and fun.
June 14,2019 – Friday
This is our last day staying in San Agustin and today schedule we go at 6:30 am
for Tree planting in Masaya Sur with all the staff in NIA office with Farmers in that area.
After the tree planting at 9:30 am we go in DARIP in Brgy. Salay for another visit in the
dam with intake. 4:00 pm we decide to go home in Cauayan.
WEEK 7
June 17,2019 – Monday
Today I come to office before 8:00 am so I can join the flag ceremony. Then after
flag ceremony we visit in the office of Ma’am Salette for our task for today and to share
what are the activities we do in San Agustin. And today no one is assigned for field so
she decided to let us do our narrative reports for our OJT. Then I leave the office at 5:00
pm.
June 18,2019 – Tuesday
At exactly 8:00 am I come to office and today schedule is going to Mororan River
in Balasig Tumaini, Isabela with 5 OJTs and we crossed almost 10 rivers before going to
the area where a dam will construct. We visit and be part survey team with Sir Denden to
assist final stake out of benchmark of propose dam line Balasig Small River Irrigation
Project. Then at 4:00 pm we leave the area and go home.
June 19,2019 – Wednesday
I came to office early and there are no instructions given by the Head of the Chief
in Engineering Unit, Engr. Ma. Salette H. Gumpal, to us OJT’s so we work and complete
our narrative reports for the whole day. Then we go home at 5:00 pm.
June 20, 2019 – Thursday
So today was our last day duty in NIA Cauayan Isabela IMO office. Today’s
schedule is going to Pasa Dam in Ilagan. It was a stunning and beautiful place but sadly
they say that Pasa dam was planned by the Korean Engineers. We are accompanied by
Engr. Ma. Salette H. Gumpal, one of the assigned engineer of Pasa Dam. Even though
this Pasa Dam was mainly planned by the Korean engineers there are some engineers in
the NIA Cauayan being part of it. so Engr. Salette gave us a tour of Pasa Dam spillway,
turnouts, lateral canals and the dam itself. So for the whole day we visit those things.
Then we go home at 3:30 pm.
June 21,2019 – Friday
Today is our last day being part if NIA Cauayan Isabela IMO and NIA day. We
go to the DARIP in San Agustin and got there right the event start. They give us our
certificate as On-The-Job Trainees. It was a whole day full day of fun and a goodbyes to
the engineers we met in their Institution.
