Class, what is our lesson last (Some of the students raised their hands)
meeting? Sir, our lesson yesterday is all about Brooding
management.
Good! And, what are the essential Sir, there are three Essential things for
things we’re going to consider in successful Brooding management and that
successful brooding? are, 1. Reliable source of heat; 2. Balanced
feeder and abundant water supply; and 3.
Strict hygiene and sanitation.

Very Good!

2. Motivation

As you can see, on the board there (Students raise their hands)
are jumbled words. Anyone who Sir! (formed the right words)
wants to try to form the correct
words?

Great! The correct answer is


“Keeping Poultry Healthy” and
that is our lesson for today.

3. Presentation and Discussion

Before we proceed on our lesson


for today, let’s first familiarized
ourselves with the following
words;

Anyone who wants to read the  Flock is a group of animals (such as


definition of: birds and sheep), assembled and
herded together.
 Flock  Companionship is something that is
 Companionship closely connected with something
 Rooster similar.
 Scratching  Rooster is an adult male chicken
 Pecking order  Scratching is an act of making
swallow or narrow cut to something
using something sharp
 Pecking order is a way in which
people, things in a group or
organization are placed in series of
level with different importance
Our activity a while ago is a clear
example for our topic for today,
which is “Keeping Poultry
Healthy”.

Anyone who wants to explain the Sir, Keeping Poultry Healthy not only
concerns of keeping poultry concern on the health of our poultry but also
healthy? promotes successful poultry production.

Okay good! Let’s now proceed on


the guidelines that we should
know in terms of maintaining the
health of our poultry.

First, we must Choose the right


chicken.

Okay, anyone what does it mean? Sir, It means we must choose the breed of
chicken we’re going to raise that is ideal on a
specific area.

Very Good! Second thing, we


must Provide clean water supply.

Okay, what do you mean on that? Sir, We must make sure that the water we’re
going to provide on our chickens are placed in
a proper container and we must provide
abundant water supply.

Very Good! Let’s proceed on the


third guideline, we must Provide
safe enclosure.

Anyone, what is a safe enclosure? Sir, we must provide safe enclosure on our
poultry for them to have safe place “hapunan”
at night.

Good! The fourth guideline, we


must Provide regular source of
food.

What is the meaning of this? Sir, the chickens may be able to survive if
there’s an abundant source of food and it can
make poultry healthy.
Excellent! Let’s now proceed on
the fifth guideline, we must
Provide vitamins and minerals for
our poultry.

Okay, it’s all about? What? Sir, we must provide this because vitamins
and minerals are the one that is needed for
their growth and most especially, lack of
minerals like calcium can result in joint and
bone abnormalities.

Very well said! The sixth


guideline is all about Hygienic
Surroundings.

What it is all about? Sir, it is all about the proper management of


the chicken manure. This manure can be
composted and can be used as an organic
fertilizer on vegetables.

Very Good! Next, the seventh


guideline, Breeding and Hatching

What does it mean? Sir, it means that we must remove or


slaughter other matured male chickens to
prevent fighting.

Good! Let’s proceed, the eight


guideline is Parasite Management.

Okay, what it is all about? Sir, parasites can stop the hens in laying eggs
or sitting on eggs because they get irritated on
the parasites. So, we must control and remove
this parasites for the comfort of our poultry.

Very well said! Let’s now on the


ninth guideline and that is the
Vaccination.

Vaccination is all about? Sir, vaccination is important because it is one


way of treating or preventing an infection
caused by a disease on our animals.
Exactly! Okay, we’re now on the
last and the most important
guideline, Monitoring our
chickens daily.

What does it mean? Sir, the best way of keeping our chickens
healthy is by means of daily monitoring and
reacting quickly on them if there’s something
goes wrong.

Any clarification on our topic? None Sir!

The class will be divided into three
(3) groups. Each group should
have a leader. Each group will
assigned to solve a certain problem
regarding the latest topic.

5. Generalization

Class, what have you learned (Some students raised their hands)
about our lesson for today? Sir, I learned that we must make sure that our
animals are healthy for us to have successful
production.
