Title: Piling Work Mock-Up Revision No.: 0.1

Purpose

The purpose of this report is to demonstrate on the project work site the correct methods, sequence
and workmanship standards are achieved, understood, inspected and reported so that the
processes and products conforms to the specified project quality system requirements.

Mock-up samples shall be retained and implemented to provide practical guidance and awareness
to supervisors and workers of the project quality requirements.

Plant and Equipment

The following equipment are used for mock-up preparation:

1. Survey equipment – Theodolite
2. Piling rig with 1.7t drop hammer
3. Welding Machine

Attendees

The following personnel are required to attend this mock-up preparation:

1. SEB Representative
2. Main Contractor QAQC Engineer
3. Subcontractor Supervisor
4. Surveyor
5. Piling Rig Operator
6. Welder

Sequence of Work

The following work sequence of mock-up preparation:

1. Confirm and check Hiley Formula is approved by SEB.
2. Confirm and check IFC method statement and drawing are available at site.
3. Confirm and check pile manufacturer is approved, delivery inspection is done and
witnessed by SEB.
4. Confirm and check piling rig operator and welder are competent prior to start work.
5. Ensure joint survey for pile position was done with SEB as per IFC drawing.
6. Ensure the pile positions are pegged and indicated clearly using timber stake.
7. Ensure pile are marked for every 300mm.
8. Ensure piles are in good condition and lifted using two designated lifting points to avoid
damage.
9. Ensure dolly is not used for piling work.
10. Ensure hammer weight in piling rig is as per approved Hiley formula and hammer height is
marked.
11. Ensure pile toe are pitched /planted to its exact position manually by suspending the pile
from its driven end.
12. Ensure pile inclination are adjusted to the required angle while the guide rails and required
back supports are firmly secured.

13. Ensure pile driving is recorded using approve pile driving record.
14. Ensure counter checks are made through two survey stations, preferably at right angles to
each other, to confirm the position at the pile base and inclination of pile shaft.
15. Ensure the pile is driven until refusal and final set was recorded using chair.
16. Ensure no gaps and full bearing at the connecting plates between the driven and the
extended length during pile splicing.
17. Ensure to used approved anti-corrosive paint and applied after pile splicing complete.
18. Ensure pile driving are resumed after the required setting/hardening times for the weld to
develop its strength.
