REPORT ON CHILD-FRIENDLY SCHOOL

Introduction

A child-friendly school is more than a place for formal learning. It is effective for children. It is
child-centered, promotes quality learning and encourages children to participate in school and
community activities. A child-friendly school is also inclusive, gender-sensitive, and non-discriminating
for it treats children equally. It also promotes children’s health and development. It is also caring and
productive as it safeguards and provides security for all children and ensures that that the school is truly
a “second home” to children. In so doing, a child friendly school works closely with children’s families
and encourages the support and interaction of community and institutions so that children’s rights and
needs are met in and out of school.
