Progress Report
Overview
One of the requirements for CE 502 (Reinforced Concrete Design), a courses under Engr. J. Z. Tadiosa is
an end-of-term report. The objective of this course requirement is to let the students explore topics and
other subject matters related to their respective courses which are relevant in professional practice and
research in civil engineering. The students are encouraged to select a topic that they will study, examine,
and report in class. It is expected that the students will relate and apply the basic concepts learned during
the course to these topics and discuss its implications to current practices.
Background
The topic chosen by the reporters was “Quality Control and Assurance of Concrete for Construction”. In this
topic we will tackle about the purpose of Quality Assurance and Quality Control in actual construction and on
how they can contribute to the designers, management teams, clients and costumer that will satisfy them
towards their performance in actual construction. Quality Assurance and Quality Control are both
interchangeably. Although similar but there are distinct differences between the two concepts. Quality
assurance can be defined as “part of quality management focused on providing confidence that quality
requirements will fulfilled. On the other hand, Quality Control can be defined as “part of quality management
focused on fulfilling quality requirements”.

Conclusion
In our current pacing, we can finish the task in the given deadline. Our current hurdle now is which
reference, it’s either book or online will be presented. Given that each member are given a four minute
presentation. We need to maximize each minute and present only the important or needed information.
Further discussion to each member is needed.
