ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the labor export and labor mobility:

impact of globalization among OFW in Singapore. This research attempts to provide

data for future reference by concerned agencies and individuals. The variables considered

in the study were Respondent’s Profile, ways and processes of going to Singapore,

observed reasons of working I overseas primarily in Singapore and impacts of labor

export and labor mobility among OFW in Singapore

The study considered the 25 informants/OFW who are currently working in

Singapore.

With the use of descriptive method, it was found out A greater number of the

respondents are aged 31-40 years old, female, married, finished secondary education and

are non-professionals. The OFW in Singapore were able to get jobs through Company

affairs and job agency. The observed reasons of working in overseas or Singapore are to

improve social life and to provide for family’s future. The OFW in Singapore were able

to send children in Private schools and were not able to spend much of their earnings to

symbols of status and modernity.

The researcher suggested that while OFW are working in overseas

primarily in Singapore is to provide for family and improve their social status, it also

calls for them to deal accounts with finance institutions and remittance services. Know

the importance of it, its benefits and how do remittances contribute to development.
