It’s finally Friday! After a full week of school, it finally feels good wind down and relax. The whole weekend is yours and now you’re looking at yourself wondering what is there to do for a whole two days. I personally hate weekends in college because there is so much unnecessary pressure to have fun. Many college students force themselves to go out to parties or hang out with their friends and spend money while trying to find something fun to do. I’ve learned that weekends are can become less fun when you are really trying to have a good time. Forcing yourself to have fun can be exhausting. Organize Your Life A more meaningful way to spend your weekend is to take the time to prepare for the week ahead. Of course, you don’t have to spend all you’re time preparing for the week, but taking a good time to sit down and figure out what you need to do for the week will make a difference in how your weekdays go. Clean! Clean, clean, clean. Whether you live in a student apartment or residence hall, you need to clean your living space. A whole school week of germs are crawling on your bed and chilling on your desk and floor. Cleaning, for me personally, is fun, so if you have fun cleaning you may enjoy this weekend activity. Living in a clean space is important and most of the time while you’re in school you’ll need the weekend to complete the task. Take Some Time For Yourself. In college, it is hard to find time to be by yourself. Being by yourself seems terrifying at first. No one likes to be alone, but these minutes or hours you spend alone can improve your mental state. Things, like taking a walk around campus or eating at the cafe, seem simple enough and can improve your mental state. It’s Okay to Go Out I know I just spoke negatively on going out and partying, but I just don’t think to do it every weekend is benefiting you. Parties can be a fun way to meet new people and have fun with your friends. Also, going out doesn’t always mean partying. You can find fun things to do with friends anywhere in your college town. My friends and I enjoy going to Round 1 which is an arcade-like restaurant. We do have fun going out, but we also enjoy each other's company and prefer to stay in and chill with one another. Weekends are some of the only free time we get in college and spending a weekend wisely can improve your college life all around.
