Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

In Mathematics Grade 8

I. Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, the students will be able to:
a. defined the characteristic of a point, line and plane
(undefined terms).

b. described and explained how it is geometrically written.

c. appreciate the importance of knowing the undefined terms.

II. Subject Matter: Undefined Terms in Geometry

Materials: Robotics model, marker, PowerPoint Presentation, Printed
materials
References: New High School Mathematics, Worktext in Geometry

III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Classroom Management
2. Prayer
3. Greeting
4. Checking of Attendance

B. Preparatory Activities:

Student will identify the common figure in Robotics Project.

Developmental Activities:

Activity 1. “Name It”

Group Task: In this activity the students will identify the concept of
lines, plane and points.
• The class will divide into 2 groups
• Every group will find a thing that has points, line and plane.
• They will write as many as they can.
• Once the time is finish, they will post it on the board
• They only have 3 minutes to finish the task.

Note: if the other group have the same words that they already
have, it will cross out and no points. 2 points for every unique word.
Content

1. 1. What is a point? How do you describe it?

2. 2. What is a line? How do you describe it?
3. 3. What is a plane? How do you describe it?

Point denotes a position in space and has no dimension. When represented by a

dot, it is named by capital letters.
A This is point A.

Line is infinitely long, that is, it extends on both directions without end.
This is line AB.
A B

Plane is a flat surface. It extends infinitely in all directions.

Plane A

Application:

Activity:

“GUESS WHAT!”
Group task: Mechanics
 It’s an acting game
 It requires a gesture to guess what the statement is all about
 All members of the group will act the same gesture for the right answer.
 If a certain member fails to act the right gesture, there will be no point to
be given.

Statements:
1. Train tracks
2. A bead
3. Outer space
4. The equator
