Question 1: What happened during the course?
Answer 1: Design thinking is a subject which is used to tackle unknown problems
and we can see the problems from user point of view. During this course I got to
know that many popular companies nowadays is using design thinking like Apple,
Google, Airbnb and these companies are able to tackle difficult problems and
users get elegant products.
This course is just not the academic course it is much more than that because it
helped me think out of the box. During this course I got the chance to see many
videos of different entrepreneurs who have came up with lot of innovative ideas. I
got inspired by one of the entrepreneur by watching the video when she has
created an innovative and portable water pot for rajasthani women and because
of this idea they can more water and it also reduces the human effort and also
saves time and energy. Moreover, I got to know that design thinking is a five step
process which includes Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. This course
also helps me to identify the problems easily and it gave me entirely new way to
think. I think this subject is not a theoretical subject it is completely practical
subject which used to solve real life problems.

Question 2: What were you thinking and feeling about the course?
Answer 2: This course helps in creativity and innovation. This course eliminates
the same tried and tested methods and encourages me to remove my blinkers
and consider alternative solutions. The entire Design thinking process lends to
challenging assumptions and exploring different pathways as well as ideas. Design
thinking not only uses analytics or science but it uses mixture of both.
It always puts human first because it mainly focuses on empathy and also helps to
solve “wicked” problems which was coined by design theorist “Horst Rittel” in the
1970s. I feel that the solution to many societal problems which are faced by
individual in particular and society in general for example in the last decade of 90s
era there was no substitute available for the traditional model of children
toothbrush in turn providing an ample opportunity for various firms to capitalise
to this untapped market .So various giants in the tooth brush manufacturing
industry came forward with their improved designs to capture this market.
Thus, it is a basic approach towards solving a visible problem and substituting the
age old traditional method with newly advanced and cost effective way thereby
providing benefits to the manufacturers and the end consumers as well as
developing new markets across the globe in order to influence the potential
consumers. So, it is a best possible way to make the most of the available
opportunity by developing the critical approach to solve the problems
encountered by the society.
Question 3: What was the good and bad about your experience with the course?
Answer: - The good experience came through the various aspects of design
thinking which was gradually summarised by the ma’am as the session progressed
and subsequently the course gave us the window of opportunity by providing the
various new ideas, approaches, schemes, which could replace the existing
methods in order to make up for the wastage of time, as well as discomfort which
was associated with the usage of the previous version of that product.
The ma’am gave us valuable insight about the nature of the course which was
indeed a delightful experience as it paved way for applying the new techniques
for the making of new prototypes which could replace the existing ones and can
also provide for the more valuable business oriented solution for that experience
in order to make for the maximum usage of the opportunity provided for the
customers who can now avail the new product by checking the pros as well as the
cons of the newly available product.
As such there was no bad experience of this course because the course was
meant to apprise the pupils about the importance or the vitality about the course
in order to subsequently develop the habit of thinking rationally as well as to
increase their analytical skills so as to interpret the problems rapidly and thereby
forming ways to solve them.
Question 4: What learnings could you draw out of this course?
Answer 4: This course helped me to generate new start up ideas which I can use
in my future for better understanding of the business. Design thinking can be
applied various things like product design, leadership, business design, service
and experience design. I also learned that if you really want to become design
thinker then you need to listen others point of view and walk a mile in their
shoes.
I also learned about prototype designing by using various design thinking tools
and I made a prototype of “stationary requirement in the college “In this
prototype I have created a blueprint in which students can send their details in
google form and submit their details whereby they can avail the necessary
academic belongings and other items like pen, pencil and various stationary .it
inspired and encouraged me to minimalize the wastage of time purchasing
stationary from outside the campus and also forced to purchases items of sub-
standard category which could drastically affect the quality of work a
professional student is expected to acquire keeping these necessary requisites in
mind , we developed an online platform to get the necessary stationary and to
support the staff as well as students .

Question 5: What else could you have done differently in this course?
Answer 5: An alternate way to introduce this course could have been to increase
the existing 8 sessions to a minimum number of sessions at par with the other
courses offered by the institution so as to give a thorough insight of this course to
the individuals who are yearning to gain more knowledge as far as the course is
concerned. The increment in the number of sessions added with the more
exposure to the various ways adopted by successful companies to develop their
capability to design and modulate products which are increasingly user and
consumer friendly, can create a better environment under which the pupils can
develop the practice of creative thinking with the passing the sessions.
An addition to existing outline could be to encourage all individuals taking the
course to identify the problems which are among the top in terms of threating the
very basic existence of human society such as climate change etc. This if properly
implemented could emphasize the very basic understanding of the factors
affecting the society and the need to create, develop and adopt the advanced
techniques for the betterment of the society. Thus, the course has an immense
scope if it is exposed to the students for the long range of time.
Question 6: How do you plan to use DT skill in your personal and professional life?
Answer 6: The usage of various concepts of Design Thinking are basically intended
to develop the process of analysing a set of problems, interpreting the causes
behind that problem and thereby creating a procedure of chain solutions to make
a newer as well better version of dealing with that problem which can replace the
old and obsolete methods.
As far as personal life is concerned, the usage of applying the Critical thinking
skills in using a more sophisticated and modern ways in order to extract the
maximum usage from a product thereby increasing and enhancing the efficiency
as well as productivity of the said product.
Whereas in the professional structure, the Design thinking concepts has a wide
range of applications which include designing new ways to reduce the
commutation cost to office from home, making more power efficient
environment at the work place so as to contribute towards energy saving as well
as to make the better usage of the workplace on the off days by inculcating newer
ideas to make the place more productive.
