I .OBJECTIVES

IV. PROCEDURES
After the activity, ask the pupils: Who among of you helps in the kitchen? How?
Ask the pupils: Why do cooking utensils have handles made of wood or plastic?
Why are cooking utensils made of metals?

Group the class into 4 groups. Afterwhich, let the pupils select a leader.
Give each group leader a piece of paper which contains instructions and guide questions which the
group will answer. Brainstorming is encouraged.
Instruction:
1. Fill the mug with hot water. Be extra careful when pouring hot water to the mug. Avoid spilling
the hot water.
2. Place a metal spoon into the mug.
3. Wait for about five minutes. Carefully feel the exposed end of the spoon. Slightly touch the
outside surface of the mug, too. Record your observations.
Guide Questions:
1. What happened to the exposed end of the spoon after five minutes?
2. What did you notice about the outside surface of the mug when you touched it? Why?
3. Suggest ways to reduce the effect of heat on the turner so that we can avoid getting hurt when
we life it out of the hot pan.
