- Very good. And that is an

in active voie?
- Ma’am, when the subject
is the doer of the action.
- Very well. Class here is a
pattern of the active voice. - subject + verb + object
Please read.

- So, what is the voice of - Active ma’am, because in

this sentence? active voice the subject is
the doer of the action.

- Good. How about this?

(Rica cramples the paper) - Ma’am, Rica.
where is the subject? - Cramples the paper.

- Very good. What is the - Active voice ma’am.
voice of this sentence?

- Very good. How about this

sentence. Harley gives
Ronald the box. Class,
- Ma’am, Harley.
what is the subject?
- Ma’am, gives.
- And the verb or action is?

- And the object is? - Ma’am, the box.

- Yes, and what kind of

voice is this? - Ma’am, active voice.

- How about the voice of this

sentence? David sweeps
the floor.
- Ma’am, active voice
because the subject is the
doer of the action.
- Perfect. However, there’s
another voice, and it is the
passive voice.

- Passive voice follows a

pattern: subject(the
receiver) + be + past
participle + doer of the
action.

- Let us take this sentence as

an example:The chocolate
is eaten by Demeree. What
have you noticed about this
sentence? - Ma’am Demeree is place
at the end of the sentence.

- Anymore observation? - Ma’am, the verb is in it’s

past participle.
- Impressive! Now the
reciever becomes the? So, - Ma’am, the subject.
what is the voice of the
sentence?
- Ma’am, passive because
the subject is not doing the
action rather it becomes
the object of preposition
by
- How did you know that?
- Ma’am, it was written in
the pattern.

- How about this sentence

(the box is given to Ronald
by Harley) what is the
action? - Ma’am, thrown.

- And where is the subject. - Ma’am, Harley, and it is

place at the end of the
sentence.

- Alright. Tell me wether the

sentence that I’ll show is an
active or passive voice.

- He opens the door. - Ma’am, active.

- Who can change it to

passive voice?
- Ma’am, the door is opened
by him.
- She pays a lot of money. - Ma’am, active.
- Change it into passive
voice. - - a lot of money is payed
by her.
e. Enrichment - I guess you now know the
Activity difference between the two
(may the wittiest voices.
group win) - To test if you really know
the difference between
active and passive voice we
are going to have an
activity.
- You are in your group
right? - Yes ma’am.
- I have 5 sentences, I am
going to post one sentence
at a time. First tell me
whether the sentence is
active or passive, and if the
sentence is in active voice
you have to change it into
passive voice, and if the
sentence is in the passive
voice change it to active
voice. If you finish
transposing the sentence
raise your flag and read
your answer. If your
answer is incorrect the
other group can raise their
flag. One point for each
correct answer.
- Is that clear? - Yes, ma’am.

- Now, I have here a box of

chocolate, I am going to
give this to the group with
the highest score.
