At the end of 60-minute period, students will be able to:

a. Supply the sentence with the correct tenses (present perfect and present
perfect progressive),

b. stressed the importance of present perfect tense through oral recitation and

c. identify the present perfect and the present perfect progressive tenses.

5. ABSTRACTION

 Present perfect tense
 The present perfect tense refers to an
action or state that either occurred
at an indefinite time in the past.

Example:

We have talked before.

 or began in the past and continued


to the present time.

Example:

 He has grown impatient over the last


hour.

This tense is formed by have/has + the past


participle.

 Negative, positive and question form


of present perfect tense.

- Auxiliary verbs
Example:
- Has been doing
- Has gone
- Have talked
- Present perfect progressive tense
You form the present perfect progressive by
using have been (or has been) followed by
an –ing verb.

Example:

- She has been studying her lesson


since noon.
