B. Motivation

Before starting our class, let us first have an


activity. As you can see I have here a puzzle.
In this puzzle, there are words that you may
find. I want you to encircle those words. I

Thank you! This morning we will talk about
“The Basic Elements of Poetry”. But before
we dig deeper to our discussion let us first be Objective:
acquainted to our lesson objective. At the end of the lesson, students must be able
to:
a. identify the basic elements of poetry.

D. Discussion

Who has an idea what poetry is?


Poetry is a patterned expression of ideas or
imagination containing rhymes and meters.
Class, we five basic elements of poetry. These
are:

1. Stanza- a series of lines grouped together.

2. Rhyme- repetition of similar sounds. Ex


ample
I saw a fairy in the wood,
He was dressed all in green,
He drew his sword while I just stood
All realized I’d be seen.
In the example class, where is the rhyming
words?
The words that have similar sounds are wood,
stood, and green, seen.
Excellent idea class!

3. Theme- message of the poem.

In every story or poems, there is something


that an author wants to convey. That is why it
is vital that we are going to understand what
we are reading so that we can get the message
of the story.

4. Symbolism- symbols that convey ideas.

In every story or poems, there is some part of


it that has symbolism. The writers may use
objects. Like for example, the writer use
candle as symbolism. What does candle
symbolizes? Light ma’am.

5. Imagery- device used for readers to create


an image that encompass the five senses.
For you to fully understand our topic this
