I will create a chart with all of the students’ names on it
and will record if they turn towards the music. I will also
have a sheet with all of the song names on it and will
record the movement of each child as they react to the
songs.
Program Monitoring: (How will you aggregate or compile
your evidence into a class or group view?)
I will use these charts to see which students are and are
not aware of their surroundings, if they are able to portray
their emotions through movement, and then work on these
skills with the students who do not respond.

Learning Experience
Academic Language:

Procedural steps:
1. Bring all of the students to the carpet. Ask the
students to show you a happy, sad, and angry face.
If they are not yet able to do this, make these faces
for them explaining the emotion each face
represents.
2. Have another teacher turn on KIDZ BOP song
Shake It Off on YouTube and record the students
that turn towards the sound of the music.
3. Start to rock to the music and see if any of the
students start to move as well.
4. Record the way the students move to the song and
write the emotion that the student is trying to portray
next to it, are they happily dancing to the song, are
they crying, are they making a face?
5. Repeat for four songs, Uptown Funk, Dance
Monkey, and Party Rock Anthem, making sure to
record the movements of each student.
Authentic Materials: (Describe authentic real life, hands-on

Adult Roles:
Ask the students’ questions about emotions, record which
children turn towards the sound of the music, record the

referring to people, objects, ideas and feelings.

Learning Objectives:
- SWBAT move along with an interactive song.
- SWBAT perform the requests of movement within the song.

Process:
- For this lesson, I will need to take my students to a larger area to move around. I will probably use the gym and bring a speaker with me, I
will need to remind the students that they need to careful of the students around them as to not run into them when they are moving around. I
will use the song called “Listen and Move” from YouTube to get the students up and interacting with the song. The song gives the students a
movement and then plays music for the students to perform that movement to. Within the song, the students will be asked to walk, gallop,
tiptoe, run, skate, and hop. The song asks the students to remember what motion goes with each sound. As the teacher, I will need to help the
students determine which movement goes with each sound.
