Vocabulary (3 mins)

be raining cats and dogs

to be raining heavily

Role-play the dialog with your teacher twice, and learn the highlighted expressions by heart.

Mary: I thought the sunny day was going to continue.
Jack: So did I. That's why I went shopping without my umbrella. I got caught in the rain in the afternoon.
It was raining cats and dogs.
Mary: I know. I could not believe it when I got hit by that storm. It was pouring with rain all afternoon.
Jack: We really have some miserable weather sometimes. I wish I could live somewhere that is sunny
all year round.
Mary: If it was sunny all year round, there would be drought. You probably would not like it either.
Jack: I guess you are right. Maybe I just wish the weather could be a little more predictable.
Mary: The weather forecasters are not good at predicting the weather.
Our weather is so changeable.
TI: Take turns to play both characters. Emphasize and repeat the highlighted expressions.

Suppose you are talking with your friend about tomorrow’s weather. Use the vocabulary and expressions
