Role-play the dialog with your teacher twice, and learn the highlighted expressions by heart.

Jack: Photography? Do you often go out to take pictures?
Mary: I’d love to take more pictures, but I am often occupied with lots of homework. Enough
about me, how do you spend your leisure time?
Jack: I’m occupied with watching football games.
Mary: Football, when did you take it up?
Jack: I grew up playing and watching football all the time. Football can strengthen my body.
Mary: You're right. It's important to have a healthy body.

TI: Take turns to play both characters. Emphasize and repeat the highlighted expressions.

Several Strange Hobbies in the World


• Mooing (哞,模仿牛的叫声): We all know there are people
superb at imitating animal calls but, believe it or not, there is
such a thing as competitive mooing.
• Soap Carving (雕肥皂花): People take bars of commercial soap
and carve them into beautiful sculptures…which then have to be
carefully sealed, or they’ll kind of cease to exist.
• Tape Art (磁带艺术): Pull out all the magnetic tape from inside
the casing, and use it to create a portrait of the artist.
• Trainspotting (观察火车并记录机车号码): People watch for
trains and, when they see them, they write down the numbers of
the train.
