PROVINCIAL YOUTH BUSINESS CONVENTION 2018:

“Innovate, Integrate, Motivate: Engaging the Youth in Social Entrepreneurship”

INTRODUCTION

The College of Business Economics and Accountancy Student Council (CBEA-SC) envisions
itself as a channel for the business students towards the improvement of their chosen field
through the expansion of the organization in the province, providing exceptional opportunities to
be globally competitive individuals marked with humility and integrity and strengthening
student’s foundation with constant dedication in nation building.

This year, the CBEA-SC pioneers its 1st PYBC Business Case Competition which encompasses
the aforementioned objectives. It is an event that is open to all Senior High School taking ABM
strand and College Business students. It aims to motivate students to acquire a higher level of
knowledge in the business while creating the value of sportsmanship and cultivating a fun,
competitive and friendly atmosphere.

OBJECTIVES

1. To encourage innovative analysis and interpretation in solving case problems;


2. To boost the confidence of students through public speaking and presentation;
3. To promote collaborative participation and communication among the teams; and
4. To promote camaraderie, sportsmanship, and familiarity among the participating high
schools, colleges and universities

QUALIFICATION

1. The 1st PYBC Business Case Competition is open to all Senior High School students
enrolled in the Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) track and College
Students enrolled in any business related course.
2. Each schools may send up to two (2) teams. Each team shall comprise of five (5)
members.
3. Each schools have the discretion to set its own criteria on choosing contestants for the
event.
4. Change of contestant/s or substitution shall be ALLOWED, provided that they shall
inform the organizers at least three (3) days before the competition proper.
5. Walk-ins shall NOT be allowed to participate in the competition.

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES AND MECHANICS

1. Contestants should be in their assigned rooms 15 minutes before the start of the
competition. Once the program starts, all the team members must be present at the venue.
2. Contestants must be properly registered and have signed the attendance sheet before
proceeding to the competition proper.
3. Contestants are also encouraged to wear their corporate attire during the competition.

4. In case one
or two members of the group cannot participate, only the remaining contestant/s SHALL
BE ALLOWED to represent their school.
5. All queries, clarifications, questions and/or protests shall be addressed to the organizing
team or the panel of judges. The decision of the panel of judges shall be final and
irrevocable.
6. The topic for the business case competition shall be given on March 25, 2018 to be sent
in the emails of the participants.
7. The participants should send their powerpoint presentation to
pybcilocos2018@gmail.com on March 27, 2018 (Until 11:59 pm). Failure to send the
said powerpoint presentation shall be subject to disqualification.
8. Each team shall be given 20 minutes to defend their case analysis. Within the time
allotted per team, it shall include the following:
• 10 minutes for case presentation and
• 10 minutes to answer the panel’s queries
9. The three highest scoring teams at the end of the competition shall be declared 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
10. The criteria for judging are as follows:

BOARD OF JUDGES

1. Board of judges comprise of three (3) professors from the College of Business,
Economics and Accountancy.
2. The board of judges shall have the sole and exclusive authority to clear or answer any
protest/clarification raised by the contestants. The decision of the judge or panel of judges
shall be final and irrevocable.

SEPARABILITY CLAUSE

Where any part, clause, or paragraph of these Implementing Guidelines be declared null and
void, by the organizing committee, such other parts, clauses, or paragraphs shall not affect other
provisions of these implementing guidelines and shall remain in full force.

EFFECTIVITY

The Implementing Guidelines shall take effect after the Organizing Committee affixes their
signatures. This version is made only for the purpose of conducting the PYBC 2018 Business
Case Competition 2018 and shall cease to take effect after the said event.

This is to accommodate revisions and amendments on the guidelines.
