goals; and
4. Develop deserving and qualified clients with different skills of life existence and prepare them for
local and global competitiveness.
THE TEACHER AS A PERSON

Teachers create and mold other professionals without them, there are no other professions. They are
always doing their biggest big shot to give the best education to their clients.

Their qualities are a big help in improving the quality of the teaching and learning process. Being
kind is the best quality that a teacher must portray. Kindness does not mean that you will pass or particular
student behind the fast that he/she doesn’t deserve that. Kindness is giving a consideration and giving the
students a chance to improve their learning or their hands out. Like for instance, when the student does not
know the answer to your question, don’t humiliate them in front of the class but rather give them a clue or
help them to think critically which will result to the correct answer. Another example is when they submitted
a project which is not good; give those tips on how to improve their works so that next time they will submit
an excellent product.

The teacher must also be energetic and enthusiastic inside the classroom. They must set a good
atmosphere inside the class before they proceed to the lesson proper. They must also use different teaching
strategies which will help maintain the students’ long concentration. Especially when it comes to the
mathematics subject, we all know that it is a boring one so the teacher needs to have high energy and use
different interesting educational games and activities. They must also have a well-modulated voice which
will make his students alive.

The teachers must possess patience especially when they have slow learners inside the class. They
must give extra attention and effort for these slow learners to understand. The teachers must also possess a
quality of being creative. They must disseminate their lessons in an extra ordinary way. They must use
instructional materials that are colorful and can catch the attention of the students.
THE TEACHER AS A PERSON
Every student has hidden potentials but the problem is that they are afraid of showing it due to lack
of confidence. They need reinforcement in order to be motivated. In order for them to be confident, we as
future teachers must develop and enhance first our students to be competent, self-determined and to have
self-respect because these are the factors to succeed.

In order for them to clearly visualize and understand every lesson that we have, we have to give them
a concrete idea. We will teach them by the process of learning by doing because this is more appropriate in
the transferring of learning.

As a future educator, I will possess the personal qualities that a good teacher must have. I will be a
good influence to my students. Not a teacher who will catch them when they fall but a teacher who will
teach them on how to fly again after the fall.

Since my problem is the lack of patience, I will do my best to extend it and not easily get irritated by
someone and something. I will change this attitude of mine.

I will integrate technology in teaching. We all know that English subject is not that easy according to
some, I will use educational games and activities to cathch their attention and to make the lesson easy and
understandable.

I learned from this episode that being a teacher is not that easy but if you really love teaching you
will always find a way to make it easy for you and for your students.

Take note and always keep in mind that teachers are the creators of other professionals. For you to
create a best professional, your foundation as a teacher must be strong. Cope up with the changes if it is
bodily needed especially when it comes to your attitude. Always act as a professional.

The Teacher as a Professional

TASKS:
Make a professional growth timeline based on the interview.

Note: My sincerest apology ma’am, I wasn’t able to conduct an interview because time was not in my favor
as the Enhance Community Quarantine (ECQ) happened due to pandemic but I was able to search and study
things a teacher must do to grow professionally.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH TIMELINE

ATTENDING TEACHING CONFERENCES

Local and national teaching conferences occur throughout the year. The individual sessions and keynote
speakers can be truly inspirational.

JOINING PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

Professional organizations like the National Education Association provide members with resources to help
them in and out of the classroom. Further, many teachers find associations specific to their subject matter
give them a wealth of material to help build and enhance lessons.

TALKING INFORMALLY

Joining other teachers in the staffroom discussing their next lesson or the materials they are using is one of
the easiest and most effective ways of developing, especially if some will borrow the ideas and try them out
in their own classes.

DOING A FORMAL COURSE

This is often the first thing people think of when they think about professional development. But it is often
the most prohibitive due to time and expensive. Make the most of the time taking the course aside for
thinking and learning because it is a great way to develop.

THE TEACHER AS A PROFESSIONAL

Today’s modern era, 21st century, brought drastic changes that transformer the educational system.
The teachers must engage themselves to different trainings and seminars to the globally competitive
educators of the modern world. Through this, they can provide professional learning community which will
create responsible millennial learners.

Teachers must continue to grow in their profession. Start with observing a great teacher at your
school. Through this, you can pick up different ways to deal with situations and to help with basic tasks.

They must also give time to attend in local and national teaching conferences that occur throughout
the year. The speakers can be truly inspirational and motivational.

Professional teachers have the full on knowledge of their subjects. Their knowledge, their skills, and
their devotion are highly appreciable. Their attitude is also different from others who are doing any job for
just a time pass.

They always earn confidence of money people just because of their professional work in the field of
teaching. They can provide knowledge in a perfect and systematic manner.

Here are some features of a professional teacher:

They should always be in a perfect dress up in which they look ready to teach. It gives a good impression on
students and motivates them to get ready to learn.

They would be prepared for every day so as to what is today’s goal. Instead of preparing for whole course in
a particular time, they would make every day goals and divide the course in lectures.

They would always respond wisely to any kind of interruptions.

They should have the capability to solve any problem that is coming in the path of their teaching. They
should be well prepared to any obstruction and should be able to drag the attention of students towards
studies, no matter whatever is going on.

They have to get lots of interest in the field of teaching.

They should be well prepared with whatever kind of questions comes across the subject.

Professional teachers are very relaxed and calm inside the class. They have well matured mind by which
they can get rid of any negative circumstances which are created before them and which do not let them
studies. Thus, they can help the students to through negativity and make them to learn with a positive an
outlook.

Education is what survives when what has

been learned has been forgotten

We all know that today’s generation is comprised of different changes. In the field of education, there are
also lots of changes. As a future educator, I have to cope up with those changes. I have to challenge myself
to grow as a person and to grow

To grow as a person, I will adopt the changes that occur in my surroundings. I know that growth may
be hard. But it doesn’t have to be complicated. It doesn’t matter what I am going through- a painful breakup,
family problem, etc., I have to place myself to its proper place. I have to act as a teacher for my clients who
are my students. I have to build a safe container for my emotions, thoughts, experiences, which will allow
me and my career easier.

I really want to be a teacher that is why I am doing everything I can in order for me to reached my
goal.Though at times it is hard because I already have a family but I know that I a proper time management I
can reach it because I really want it.

In God’s will, it is also my plan to have advanced degrees which are Masteral Degree and Doctoral
Degree.

The Teacher in the School Setting

Task:

Interview a teacher on his/her roles and responsibilities in the school setting.

Reflect on the teachers sharing.

Responsibilities in the school setting:

I haven’t got the time to interview teacher in a school settings about his/her role and
responsibilities because of the unfortunate circumstance that COVID 19 pandemic brought
but in lieu of the interview I made sure to research and include the roles and responsiblities a
teacher must have and follow.

THE TEACHER IN THE SCHOOL SETTING

ROLES
 These are the positions team members assume or the parts that they play in a particular operation
or process. ( for example, a role an individual might assume is that of facilitator)

RESPONSIBILITIES

 These are the specific tasks or duties that members are expected to complete as a function of their
roles. They are the specific activities or obligations for which they are held accountable when
they assume-or are designed to- a role on a project or team.( for example, some of the
responsibilities of a person in the role of team facilitator might include making sure that meeting
agendas reflect feedback and input from all members, that the meetings start an time and end on
time, and that all members have opportunities to contribute to discussion).

Teachers play vital roles in the lives of the students in their classrooms. Teachers are best known for
the role of educating the students that are placed in their case. Beyond that, teachers serve many other
roles in the classroom. Teachers set the time of their classrooms, build a warm environment, mentor
and nurture students, become role models, and listen and look for signs of trouble.

Teachers do not think of themselves as role models, however, they are. Students spend a great deal of
time with their teacher and therefore, the teacher becomes a role model to them. Teachers are there
not only to teach, the children, but also to love and care for them. Teachers are highly respected by
people in the community and therefore become a role model to students and parents.

Another responsibility of a teacher is to contribute to the school wide improvement agenda. They
help build a culture of continuous improvement, trust and respect across the entire school. Teachers
must respect their students just as they themselves want respect. They must reflect, recognize when
their methods fail, and be willing to continually learn and change so that they can have a positive
impact their students.

REFLECTION
THE TEACHER IN THE SCHOOL SETTING

“If you actions in the classroom inspire children to achieve more, question more
As a future educator, I must be aware of my roles and responsibilities as a teacher. I must possess
good attitudes to make my class smooth and the students are eager to learn.

It is also my responsibility to break the walls between me and my students. I will make them feel
comfortable with me. Comfort ability with respect. I will serve as a role model to them. When I say role
model, I will do on my own the things that I want my students to do. Like for instance, I will come to school
early in the morning so that they will also come to school on time or before the assigned time.

As a teacher, it is also my role to limit myself. I will have jokes with my students, share my
experiences with them, comfort them when they have problems and give them advice when it is needed. I
will set boundaries between me and them. I will make sure that they still have respect for me. I will play the
role of a mother, sister, teacher, and a friend to them. I will always be ready to be their eyes when they can’t
see the true meaning of education; I will lend my ears to hear their problems whether those are problems in
the family or problems in school; I will use my mouth to give them a piece of advice; and I will offer my
hands to lift them when they’re down to wipe their precious tears; as well as my arms to give them my
comfortable hug.

Even though you’re already a teacher, claim it that you still haven’t known everything. You have to
prepare room for the new learning. You can be a teacher and a learner at the same time. Your students can
teach you something.

I will be equal to all my students regardless of their diversity. I will enlighten my mind for me to
understand the different cultures that they have.as a professional teacher, I will have a clear communication
with my co-teachers, to the members of the faculty and staff, to the stakeholders and to other professionals.
THE TEACHER IN THE COMMUNITY
National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS) is an integrated theatrical framework that
defines the different dimensions of effective teaching. It is the result of the societal change, a reflection of
what is happening in the society and adopting our curriculum into the 21st century globally competent
education. It is a set of competencies (behavior, attitudes, and skills). It is the core values of Filipino teachers
and on the principles of effective teaching learning.

NCBTS provides a better guide for all teacher development programs and projects from t5he school-
level up to the national level.

The teachers maintain an environment of courtesy and respect for different learners’ abilities, culture
and gender. They maintain a safe, clean and orderly clean classroom free from distractions and arrange
challenging activities for the students.

The Domain 6 of NCBTS known as the Community Linkages (CL) refers to the ideal that classroom
activities are meaningfully linked to the experiences and aspirations of the learners in their homes and
communities.

The teachers involve the community in sharing accountability for the learners’ achievement. They
use community resources (human, material) to support learning. They use the community as a laboratory for
learning. They participate in the community activities that promote learning. They use community networks
to publicize school events and achievements.

Every teacher shall provide leadership and initiative to actively participate in community movements
for moral, social, educational, economic, and civic betterment.

Here are the performance indicators in Domain 6:

REFLECTION
THE TEACHER IN THE COMMUNITY

“Education requires a collaborative effort: the teacher, the

students, the parents, and the community.”
--ROBERT JOHN MEEHAN

We always believe that the more, the merrier. In the field of education, the more hands in working,
the more SUCCESS is the result.

The teachers, the students, the parents, and the community are the different parts of the school
community. This school community is strong, faithful, and professional learning environment which is
conducive to learn and which produces responsible learners. When one of them is missing, it will not
function well.
I believe that the responsibility for raising a well-educated and civic-minded generation of children
cannot rest only which schools. There must be a relationship between community involvement and students
achievement.

The teachers and the community must support each other’s back in developing the quality of
education.

As a future educator, I will have a strong communication with the parents of my students so that
whenever there are problems in their studies, I am at ease to share it to them and to consult them on how to
improve on aid their children’s learning. As well as to have a conversation with them regarding their
children’s academic progress.

I will also make sure that I have proper and clear communication with the barangay. Where our
school is located. Through this, if we have problems in the school, we can ask for their help easily and in the
most convenient way. They can also support every activity which will be conducted in the school. We can
also possess a community where the students feel comfortable and secured.

To achieve those things, I have to be open-minded have passion and perseverance and ready/willing
to take risks.

THE GLOBAL TEACHER

Teaching is a respectable profession all over the world. Their status has been comparable in all parts
of the globe. Any teacher regardless of the country of origin should be a Global teacher or a teacher of the
world.

A global teacher must constantly keep up new techniques in teaching to be always up to date with the
modern world. They must have a good rapport with people, be it students, co-workers or the students’
parents.

Global teachers must be knowledge about the history, customs and traditions of a country they want
to work for. They must possess a sense of justice so as to be always fair with their students regardless of
their social standing.

Task:
Conduct a survey of the number of teachers in the school who have opted to work
abroad
My sincerest apologies ma’am as I haven’t been able to conduct a survey due to ECQ but I made research
about this topic and write a reflection instead.
REFLECTION

THE GLOBAL TEACHER

“Diversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another’s
uniqueness.”

--OLA JOSEPH--

A global teacher must embrace diversity. Working abroad or working to another country is very
challenging and adventurous. You must ready yourself to the different kind of people that you will
encounter. You must adapt to your new environment. You have to consider your students different culture,
language, attitudes, and perception about education. You also have to be knowledgeable about the history,
customs and traditions of the century that you want to work for.

I am an adventurous person and I want to try everything. I want to have self-satisfaction. But in this
case, I don’t have plans yet in teaching abroad because I want to stay with m family here in our country.
Traveling abroad is one of my goal but just for vacation.

As a future teacher, I want to teach students here in the Philippines to share to them what I have
learned. I feel that I am more needed here than I am need in abroad.

I learned from this episode that “to be a global teacher you have to be open-minded and prepare a
room for a new learning”.
