IV. FINDINGS
Carmen S. Bicua is 52 years old, married, a plain housekeeper and presently residing at
Mabulo, San Fernando, Romblon. As narrated by the client her huge problem now is the present ill
health condition of her son. She disclosed that when she delivered her second to youngest child, she
engaged in a family planning by drinking the crushed “marabilus” the locally prepared family
planning method in order to evade pregnancy; hence she has already six (6) live children.
Considering the fact that basic needs of the family was deprived , her plan not to give birth
anymore she continued her locally family planning method which is not 100% effective until she
found out that she is three months pregnant to her youngest named Danico Jude S. Bicua who at
present the subject for assistance.
For now, subject for assistance has several episodes of seizure which made the whole family
nervous, yet they have no money, for whatever medical intervention in case they seek medical
advice.
However, the top priority of the family in order to produce the needed amount that might be
incurred is still at stake though Danico the patient was already diagnosed of a congenital heart
disease.
Another factor that could be attributed to the present coordination of the child’s ailment is the
fact that Carmen was already in her menopausal stage and during the first trimester of pregnancy
regular pre- natal check up with all the needed vitamins of a pregnant women was not done. Folic
acid is very vital during trimester pregnancy in order to evade abnormalities. Regular pre- natal
check-up which is a necessity among pregnant women was not followed by Carmen.
As narrated further by the client when Danico was four (4) years old he was brought at
Philippine General Hospital (PGH for further medical evaluation where medical findings was a heart
disease. However said findings were not given desired treatment because they cannot produce P20,
000.00 to cover the expenses as advice by the attending physician. So, no medical treatment
happened.
As declared by the client once, Danico has episode of seizure, since the beginning of his seizure,
the young leaves of “kalamansi” was crushed and have it inhale that neutralize the seizure. However,
last second week of October 2018 another episodes of seizure attached where the patient, after the
seizure experienced fever. Thru their neighbour consideration, she was advised to have her son
swallowed one (1) butt of garlic as initial herbal medicine. True enough after taking butts of garlic
the fever subsides in short due to lack of money available herbal medicines in the area was utilized.
Now series of episodes of seizure prompted the client to seek further medical intervention in
Manila, hence, it is getting worst. The patient who is still a minor has to, avail his right Re: desired
medical intervention which is at present the patients need.
The parents of the patient are really incapacitated to finance medical intervention as they are
poverty victim. Sancho Bicua, the biological father is a mere fisherman whose earning is very
insufficient to sustain the needed basic need. Carmen, the biological mother of Danico cannot
augment financially being a housekeeper who has no earnings. Thus, opted to seek financial help to
entities who are champion in helping the needy.
