III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

I.1 Daily Routine

I.1.1 Opening Prayer
Let us all stand for a prayer The students stand for a prayer
Good morning class Good morning, Ma’am
3.1.2Cleanliness and Orderliness
Kindly align your chairs, pick up the
pieces of papers and put it on a trash can. The students align their chairs and pick
up those trash
After aligning and picking up that trash you
may take your seat.

3.1.3 Checking of Attendance

Mr. / Ms. Secretary any absentees The absentees for today are…
for today?
3.1.4 Recall/ Review

What was our previous lesson all Our previous lesson is all about
about? Properties of Acids and Bases.
What are the properties of Acid and Acids have sour taste, turn blue
Bases? litmus dye to red, react with metals and
feel watery while the bases are bitter in
taste litmus paper turn to blue and
have slippery feelings.
3.2 Lesson Proper
3.2.1 Motivation
“Decoding Pictures”
Before we start on our discussion,
let’s play a game. I will post a picture, ask a
question and guess what is in the picture.
Did you get it? Yes Ma’am!
Our first picture is Phosphorus. So, The atomic symbol of
what is the symbol of the element Phosphorus is “P”.
Phosphorus?
The second picture is Hydrogen, what The atomic symbol for
is the atomic symbol for the Hydrogen? Hydrogen is “H”.
And for the last, what is this picture? It is a scale.

3.2.2 Activity
“Concept Map”
Before we proceed to our next activity
please go to your respective groups.
Last meeting I told you to have a
research and study the pH scale and its
importance.
On our next activity is to make a
concept map about your understanding in pH
scale.
You need to write this activity in a one
whole sheet of paper.
Are you ready? Yes Ma’am!
If you’re really ready let’s begin. Do
the activity quietly.
Are you done?
For all the representative Each group will present their
output.
Very Good!
pH scale or power hydrogen scale
measures how acidic or basic a substance is.
The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. A pH of 7
is neutral. A pH less than 7 is acidic and a pH
greater than 7 is a bases.
There are some important uses of pH
in everyday life.
1. The importance of pH scale in the
human body.
- Acids and Bases perform
specific functions to balance
the pH levels in the body.
2. The use of pH in food processing
and fruit preservation.
- Changes in pH affect the
growth of microorganisms,
which cause food spoilage.
3. The control of pH in soil
- Some plants grow well in acidic
soil while others prefer basic
soil.
4. The pH of rainwater
- The pH of rainwater is the
average of 5.6. This slightly
acidic pH is due to the
presence of carbon dioxide in
the air.
5. The pH of personal care products
- Kept at specific levels to avoid
harmful effects on the body.

3.2.3 Analysis
1. What is pH scale?
A pH scale measure how
acidic or basic of a substance is.
2. How do we use pH scale?
A pH scale ranges from 0 to
14. A pH of 7 is neutral and if it is less
than 7 it is acidic and if it is greater
than 7 it is basic.
3. What is the importance of pH
The importance of pH scale:

- Importance in Human
Body
- pH in Food Processing
and Fruit Preservation
- pH in Soil
- pH in Rainwater
- pH of Personal Care

3.2.4 Abstraction
1. What is pH scale?
A pH scale measure how
acidic or basic of a substance is.
2. State the importance of pH scale in our
daily life The importance of pH scale:
- Importance in Human
Body
- pH in Food Processing
and Fruit Preservation

3.2.5 Application
Using the pH scale identify the
following if it is Acid or Base.
