Circular regarding teaching activities during June-July 2020

In view of the current situation, the faculty are supposed to prepare digital content for
conducting the course online for the coming semester. The time available to us during the
current month June and the next month July 2020 should be utilised for this purpose.
Digital content shall include video lectures, study material, and assessments.

The activities mandated to be done during this period are as below.

1. Course Allotment for the coming semester needs top be completed by Heads of the
Departments as soon as possible.

2. Faculty should prepare Course outcomes (5 to 6) for the entire course, and also
prepare about 5 to 6 learning outcomes for each unit in the subject.

3. A set of Video lectures, Study material, and Assessments shall be prepared for
each learning outcome in a unit, and shall be submitted online to the respective
department head or a concerned person in the department. These shall be peer
reviewed and also reviewed by a committee within the department. Once the
reviews are okayed they would be accepted by the department.

4. Submission dates shall be specified in the departments to submit learning outcome


wise Videos / Study Material / Assessments

5. Unit wise deadlines are given for the entire college.

6. Faculty must ensure that the deadlines provided above apply to preparation,
review, and acceptance of the material in the department. Faculty who can
complete the preparation of material earlier may do so and submit on the dates
provided by the department.
7. A detailed schedule of submission dates shall be provided by the departments
along with day wise submission plan.

8. Day wise submissions shall be updated to the principal’s office by the


departments.

9. Guidelines for preparation of the material:

a. Videos: Each video must be for a duration of 10-15 minutes ONLY. Each
learning outcome may require more than one video. Hence there may be
more than one video prepared for each learning outcome depending on the
requirement. Videos shall include presentations with slides, or explanation
on board, or an audio showing text book or any other reference. Videos can
be recorded on mobiles/using google meet/ any other tool.

b. Study Material: Study material shall be prepared for the entire learning
outcome. Text book references (With units and page numbers), Other
Reference material (Like website links, online material, or any other),
material prepared by the faculty, pictures, presentations/slides, videos, etc.
The material must have been thoroughly referenced by the faculty during
preparation, and should also enable learning of additional content beyond
syllabus. Material shall be submitted in the form of pdf documents and a
list of links in a text file.

c. Assessments: Assessments shall be assignments/quiz/projects/any other


kind of assessments. Make sure that the assessment questions are at higher
levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy as the course progresses. All faculty are by
now familiar with Higher levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy. If not, they may
contact their HODs for help. Each assessment must also have a rubric with
specific details.

10. Review of preparation material: The prepared material is reviewed by a peer


faculty in the department as well as an internal committee. Reviews of the material
shall be done with the rubrics provided below.

With the above guidelines, the departments shall prepare the schedule for submissions,
and faculty shall start their preparation for the next semester.
