Subject
Engine cannot start.

Problem/ Complaint
Engine can’t start.

Symptom
Battery supply power is only ON position of key switch.

Troubleshooting /Service Step

First, we check that the starter motor is good or not .In here, there was no power supply for starter
motor at the start position of key and then checked the starter motor relay. This relay is good. Then, we
checked the connection of key and measured the voltage between the positive terminal and negative
terminal of key switch. There was no voltage because there was no power on negative terminal of key
switch. Therefore, we checked the limit- switches. Drive-gear limit-switch is good. Then, we checked the
limit-switch of P.T.O gear speed controller found that it is loose connection inside. So we adjusted the length
of this limit-switch. Then test run the machine, and machine is good.

Analysis

Firstly, we checked the key-switch. In here, battery power supply only ON position of key-switch. So, we
checked step by step as followings.
(1)We checked the supply power of starter motor but there is no negative power.
(2)So we checked the starter relay. In here, the output of relay has no power supply and so checked the supply power
of key-switch but there is no power on negative terminal.
(3)There are two limit-switch which control the negative line of key switch such as gear-box limit-switch and limit-
switch of P.T.O gear speed controller. When we checked these, gear-box limit-switch is good and P.T.O limit-switch is
loose connection inside. So, we adjusted the length of P.T.O limit-switch.

Action and Suggestion

This problem such as engine can’t start, can generally cause because of the breaking of power supply. So,
we should firstly check

(1)the main battery,

(2)battery socket connection looses and

(3)especially limit-switches
