WARM UP ACTIVITY:

Hello everyone! Hey, look who is here to welcome you to the world of numbers. Mr.
Polar Bear, Mr. Rat, Mr. Tiger, Mr. Teddy and Mr. Monkey are here. They are so cute
and cuddly.

Let us count them now starting from Mr. Polar Bear. 1…..2….3…..4….5….so, there are
five soft toys here. Yes, so it like the number series that we learnt - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5………

But hey, did you see that numbers can be written in the form of number names also.
Yes, just like 5 - Five

It seems that they are very good friends and love to sit next to each other.
As we see,
a) Mr. Polar Bear is sitting before Mr. Rat.
b) Mr. Monkey is sitting after Mr. Teddy
c) Mr. Tiger is sitting in-between Mr. Rat and Mr. Teddy

So we see understand what comes before, what comes after and what comes in
between.
SYNOPSIS:

The natural numbers which are continuous are often referred to as the counting
numbers or numerical numbers or also known as cardinal numbers

Understanding the numbers as to what comes before, what comes after and what
comes in between, we are able to differentiate between larger numbers and smaller
numbers

Eg: 39 comes before 40 - 39 40

95 comes after 94 - 94 95
57 comes in between 56 and 58 - 56 57 58

By the numerical series, we understand that they can be expressed in alphabets as

well, where we use it many areas such as while using in place values we are able to
recollect the number names
