LEARNING COMPETENCIES
C. BIODIVERSITY AND EVOLUTION

 relate species extinction to the failure of populations of organisms to adapt to abrupt changes in the
environment;(S9LT-Ie-f-6)

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
- Identify and describe the types of biodiversity. (U)

II. LEARNING CONTENT

TOPIC: TYPES of BIODIVERSITY
MATERIALS: bond paper, pen, marker, tape, Scissors
REFERENCES:

III. PROCEDURE

A. ENGAGEMENT
1. PICTURE ANALYSIS
-Teacher will post pictures on the board in which students will be asked to describe the picture.
The following question will be asked by the teacher;
1. What can you observe from these pictures?

B. EXPLORE
1. VIDEO CLIP
Teacher will let the students to go to their groups, ask to watch the short video clip. After which, teacher
will asked students what is the importance of biodiversity?

C. EXPLAIN
1. BRAINSTORMING
Teacher will ask students to go to their group; each group will be given a passage to read about the
types of biodiversity. Students will be asked to brain storm about the topic. Teacher will ask one
member per group to identify and describe the different types of biodiversity.

KEY CONCEPTS TO EMPHASIZE:

D. ELABORATE
1. JUMBLED Letters
-Teacher will be posting jumbled letters after which students will be asked to identify the jumbled letters
of types of biodiversity. After which, students will be asked to describe the identified types of
biodiversity

D. EVALUATE
I. IDENTIFICATION
Directions: Write SD if the statement is about species diversity, GD if the statement is about genetic
diversity and ED if the statement is about ecosystem diversity.

1. Refers to variety and relative abundance of species

2. Refers to variations of genes within the species
3. It refers to the differences in the genetic make-up between distinct species
4. When you go to the market of Zamboanga city, you could see different fish such as milkfish, scud
fish, slip mouth, mud fish and many others.
5. It refers to variation among groups of organism in different physical setting.
6. The terrestrial environment in Zamboanga city has classified number of ecosystem such as desert,
tropical rain forest and grassland.
7. The aquatic environment in Zamboanga city has been classified as the following wetlands,
mangroves and coral reefs.
8. Refers to variability in the genetic make-up of given species
9. It exists as result of the variations in the sequence of 4 basic nitrogenous base.
10. In Pansonanca park, you could see different types of birds.
