Proposal: Rabbit Meat Production Farm as Source of White Meat

Proponent: Municipal Government of Sta. Cruz thru the Office of the Municipal
Agriculturist

I. ACTIVITIES
Activity 1. Pre-implementation Phase

Site inspection/validation. Identify possible sites where rabbit meat production facilities
can be established.

Clearing/Fencing. Use of the “Food for Work” program for labor enforcement to do the
initial clearing, fencing, and maintenance of the selected location.

Project lay outing. Measuring and mapping of the area and preparation of field
layout/design.

Activity 2. Implementation Phase

Establishment of Rabbit Farm Equipment/Facilities.

 Cages/Hutches
 Watering and Feeder Troughs
Purchase of Rabbits. Ideal population for reproduction/breeding is 2 heads of buck and
10 heads of doe rabbits.

Activity 3. Post-implementation Phase

Maintenance and continuous monitoring of the rabbit farm.

Establishment of linkages for product marketing and development.


II. TARGET BENEFICIARIES
Being a community-based project, target beneficiaries will be households in the
selected marginalized communities with skills appropriate for the services needed in the
facilities to be established. These residents will then be members of a community
organization to maximize its potential and opportunities.

IV. MARKETING STRATEGY


The main target market of this project will be the residents of the community. Anything
in excess of their produce will then be sold outside their barangay but within the
municipality of Sta. Cruz (e.g.trading posts, public market). This is in line with the “one
barangay, one product” livelihood program.
