Course Title :Organization, Production and Curriculum Integration of Audio-Visual Media
Credit Units : 3 units
Time Allotment : 54 hours
Pre – requisite :none
I. Vision :

Program Outcomes:Based from CMO 53 s.2007, an individual who completes doctoral degree in education is able to demonstrate:
a. a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of a complex and coherent body of knowledge (e.g., theories, principles, concepts) and
skills (e.g., problem solving and communication skills) that are in the forefront of an academic discipline or professional area.
b. the ability to extend the latter or generate new knowledge through research; and
c. the ability to make informed judgments on complex issues is specific fields of specialization, and of approaching and solving
problems in innovative ways.

In particular, the individual who completes a doctoral degree in education should be able to demonstrate the following specific indicators
of competency:
• understand, develop and sustain arguments about, and critically evaluate the established theories, principles, and concepts at a
forefront of a specialized field of study;
• extend the forefront knowledge by conducting original research or other forms of advanced scholarship of a level of quality that
meets the standards of peer review and eventually merit publication;
• interpret and critically assess new contribution to knowledge by other individuals, and communicate such interpretations and
assessment to both specialist and non-specialist audiences;
• conceptualize, design, and implement research projects for the generation of new knowledge and/or of new educational programs
and systems, and adjust the project design in consideration of external exigencies; and
• make very informed judgments on complex issues in their field of specialization and its application, even in the absence of complete
data, in ways that are informed by the ethical and social dimensions of the field, and be able to communicate their ideas to both
specialist and non-specialist audiences.

IV. Course Description :


This course discusses the principles and practices of organizing, producing, facilitating, and integrating the use of audio-visual
materials in various types of school curricula and educational programs of youth and adult groups.

V. Course Objectives :
At the end of the course and within the context of the ISO objectives, VMO of NWU and of the VJSSGS, the students shall be able to:
1. define audio-visual materials in the context of teaching and learning of the 21st century skills;
2. assess current personal usages of AV materials in classrooms;
3. identify and describe the types of AV materials as to its features, characteristics, advantages/disadvantages, and its
applications in teaching and learning;
4. design a learning activity using appropriate AV material; and
5. Illustrate the value and application of instructional design principles of AV materials development for lifelong
learning.

Midterm Grade (MG) = 60% x Class Standing (CS) + 40% x Midterm Exam Score

Final Term Grade (FG) = 60% x Class Standing (CS) + 40% x Final Exam Score

Note: Class Standing includes any/all of the following:


Recitation, quizzes/test, homework, seatwork, experiments or laboratory exercises, class reports, projects, etc.

IX. Classroom Management Rules :


1. Observe punctuality in starting and dismissing class.
2. No visitors are allowed to interrupt an ongoing class except when the visitor has been given the permission by the Dean
concerned.
3. Cellphones should be put into silent mode.
4. A student who incurs more than 20% of the prescribed number of lecture hours shall be dropped and not given credit
for the course or subject.
5. Smoking, eating and selling inside the classroom is prohibited.
6. Obseve the No Permit, No Exam Policy. A permit is required to a student in taking all the major examinations.
