1. Rationale
The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) is pleased to announce the 1st ASEAN Energy Youth Awards in recognition of young students’
valuable contribution to nation-building, sustainable development, and energy transition.

The theme of the first awards is “Advancing Sustainable Development and Energy Transition through Energy Efficiency and
Renewable Energy in the ASEAN Region”. This awards is jointly organised by ACE and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education
Organisation (SEAMEO) and supported by the Korea Energy Agency.

The intention of the Guideline Manual is to use it as the reference by the applicants from the ASEAN Member States joining the
ASEAN Energy Youth Awards 2020. Moreover, it aims to raise more national entries and winners by keeping the applicants fully
aware of the requirements and other procedural matters described by the Board of Judges (BOJ) in this Guideline Manual.
2. Objectives of the Awards

• To promote sustainable energy development in the ASEAN Member States.


• To encourage all the youths of the ASEAN Member States to express their perspectives, insights, and innovative ideas
for enhancing energy security, energy access, and affordability in a sustainable way.
• To engage the youth sector by using their creativity and innovation to develop an awareness on clean energy and
sustainable environment.
3. Qualifications of the Applicants

• The awards is open to enrolled High School and University/College (bachelor’s degree) students.
• The awards is eligible for both individual and team. If you are willing to participate this event in team, we don’t limit
the number of the team.
• Each school can submit entry in 3 categories with the signature of the school head/Dean. However, the individual team
can only participate in 1 category.

6. Rules, Evaluation, and Copyrights
Rules
• The applicants should submit their works in English, together with his/her personal details including as CV, Student ID
Card, and an official letter from their Institution, proofing that he/she is a current enrolled student with an official
stamp/signature.
• Submission depicting violence, sexism, racism, or other inappropriate content such as smoking, drinking, or other
vices, including messaging deemed to advocate curtailment of the rights of others, will be disqualified.
• Each individual or team is strongly encouraged to have a social media account for promoting ASEAN Centre for Energy

Evaluation
• The Board of Judges (BOJ) shall complete and verify the Overall Tally Sheet with their signatures affixed.
• ACE will pick-up the top 10 for each category then the BOJ will pick the winners and runners-up.
6. Rules, Evaluations, and Copyrights
Copyrights
• By joining the awards, the applicants acknowledge and guarantee that their entries are original work created solely for
this awards and that it does not infringe on copyrights, trademarks, and the rights of privacy, publicity, or intellectual
property rights of any person or entity.
• By joining the awards, applicants agree to grant the ASEAN Centre for Energy the right to reproduce, distribute, display,
and create derivative works of the entry in any media at any time and any cost.
7. Submission and Procedure
To submit your entries, send an email to communication@aseanenergy.org with:
1. Your video/infographic/essay (you can put the file directly or use a google drive/dropbox link)
2. CV
3. Scanned of your Student ID card
4. An official letter from your Institution, proofing that you are a current enrolled student with an official
stamp/signature

Use the subject “AYEA2020 – Video – Name” [video].


Use the subject “AYEA2020 – Poster – Name” [Poster/Infographic Design].
Use the subject “AYEA2020 – Essay – Name” [Essay Writing].

Your works must be submitted on or before 28th September 2020 at 23.59 Jakarta Time (GMT +7).
8. The Winners
The winners and runners-up will be selected by the Board of Judges as follows:

University/College level
1. Video : 1 Winner, 3 Runners-up
2. Poster/Infographic Design : 1 Winner, 3 Runners-up
3. Essay : 1 Winner, 3 Runners-up

9. Prizes
• The winners and runners-up will be invited at the Gala Dinner of AMEM in Vietnam and to be awarded with cash prizes
and trophies to be presented by ACE, SEAMEO & KEA.
• Cash prizes for each category are as follows:

10. Timeline of Activities

19th October The winners and runners-up are selected by BOJ
23rd October Notification of the winners and runners-up by ACE
3rd – 5th November The winners and runners-up will be announced at the 38th Gala Dinner in Vietnam
11. Awarding Ceremonies

The Awarding Ceremonies will be held in conjunction with the Gala Dinner of the 38th ASEAN Ministers on Energy
Meeting (AMEM) and ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) 2020, in November 2020 in Vietnam.
