My 10-Day Work Immersion Experience at the Sipalay City Hall , Local Civil Registry

As a requirement for graduation in Senior High School particularly in grade 12, we have to complete 80-
hour work immersion (OJT in college) on the company or working establishments we are assigned in . I
live in Don Jesus Village , Brgy. Canturay which is not so far away from NGC. A one ride tricycle
specifically 15 minutes .

December 03, 2018 (Monday)

Marks the first day of our work immersion . On the first day, we are oriented about the rules and
regulations inside together with my co-ABM , STEM and HUMSS . Our schedule was started at 8:00 am
and 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm was our lunch break and we will end at 5:00 pm . 8 hours per day a total of
80 hours in 10 days. After the orientation , we are assisted to our designated office . We are assigned at
the Local Civil Registry Office , me and my classmate Fiona Bates . As we went inside we greeted
Goodmornings to everyone we met along the way with a wonderful smile on our faces . Since it's
monday , start of weekdays , a busy day for everyone . The head office of LCR, Mrs. Palomo decided that
we'll just start on tuesday morning because she have a lot of things to fix at that time . In short , we had
our day off on the first day of our work immersion but she also said it's still counted as our day one . So
we just went out in the office and did other things outside .

December 04, 2018 (Tuesday)

Second day of our Work Immersion . But since we didn't work yesterday , it feels like our first day . We
arrived at NGC at exactly 7:50 am . Been there earlier than the workers at LCR office . As soon as they
open the office we wipe the floors in all areas of the office including the mini kitchen , stored documents
and the office of the head . When the head came in she instructed us and discussed about what is the
function of Local Civil Registry . What is their daily routine and what it is all about. As what we
understand it is the office where our papers at the beginning of the day we are alive ( birth certificate ) ,
the moment we get married ( marriage certificate , marriage license ) , adopt kids (legitamation) and the
end of our days or lives ( death certificate ) are being process and stored. It is recorded in three ways or
copies ; in papers , book of records and in computer so that it is secured . Every 10th day of the month is
their deadline or releasing time to deliver all the new papers at the Philippine Statistics Affair . We are
given a task to arrange the papers that is stored in the book shelves . We rearrange the numbers of the
books according to what is stored inside such as the codes of papers . At 10:30am our supportive adviser
visited us . Exactly 12 noon we finished listing those numbers that still needed to arrange. We had first
our lunch break at the canteen which is in the 4th floor of NGC . Went back to the office at 1:00 pm
sharp and continue our work. We are able to use their computer to print out the numbers that we will
attached on the book shelves. Then we cut it using paper cutter . We ended at exactly 5pm , our end
time. So we clean up our sorroundings first before we went out. We wipe the floors and fix some messy
things . And we headed to our home after . So glad and grateful to work with wonderful and kind people
in the office .

December 05, 2018 (Wednesday)

We arrived at 7:45 am in the office and it's still close. As our daily routine , we wipe the floors all around
first before anything else . Then we continued what we had left undone . We use the mini stair to climb
up and get the books at the very top of the shelf so we can attached the number . From year 1930's up
to 2018 records of birth certificates, marriage certificates, marriage license , legitamation and death
certificates should be arrange in ascending order . We had our snack time at 10am , we were invited to
eat with the workers and the head in their mini kitchen . After we ate , we continued our work until
lunch time . On the afternoon we still continued what we left . We are also called to xerox some
certificates that is needed . At 3:30pm they had their snack time again and again we are invited to eat
with them. After

snack time , back to work . Attaching number to the books in the shelves so on and so forth. It's already
4:30pm the head told us to go home already . We clean the sorroundings , fix things , turn off the lights
in the book shelves and wipe the floors before we went out .

December 06, 2018 (Thursday)

We arrived earlier in the office than the last day and always the early bird at the LCR. We are the one
who turned on the lights , and open the book shelves . Wipe all the floors and continued or work. We
use the computer again since we should print the labels of the books written by pencil so that it is clear
and easy to notice . As soon as we finish labeling the books , we had a shortage of scotchtape . I and
Fiona went to the Montilla Public market to buy scotchtapes. As soon as we headed to the office , we
are assigned to put scotchtape in each old papers so that it will last longer and durable. Each of us had
scissors, punchers, cutters and scotchtapes so that we'll be productive and can do it as fast as we can.
This is what we did until afternoon or end time . We started on the year 1996, so on and so forth. Before
we went home we always clean our sorroundings .

December 07, 2018 (Friday)

Last day of weekdays , Mrs. Palomo our head is not present for important matters . Again, we wipe all
around the office and started our work as soon as possible . We just continue what we had left undone
last day . As we put scotchtape on each paper , we also arrange the labels according to its registry
numbers inside each books . Scotchtape here , scotchtape there. At 3pm , I was asked to go to school to
process my technolympics requirement . I didn't went back to the office because its already 5pm and I
am still at school . I already told my co-workers about it and they are just okay with it . So I just went
home after .

December 10, 2018 (Monday)

Every Monday the City Hall of Sipalay gathers at 8am to have a flag ceremony . So We arrived earlier
than the usual arrival time. We attended the Flag Ceremony and headed to our designated office after .
Continued what we had left last week. We are also asked to get official receipts of some people and a
photocopy of the said person . In the afternoon our teachers visited us and we took a picture with our
head and co-workers in the office. Then we just went back again to our area to work. There are a lot of
snacks and heavy foods in the office and we got a time to have a coffee break daily . It's nice to work
with a full tummy . Sometimes we felt dizzy sitting and putting scotchtapes in a bundles of papers, but
we still managed to sit properly , greeted every visitors who visits the office and work properly .
Behaving like a professional worker awakens our soul . So we clean every mess before we go out in the
office.

December 11, 2018 (Tuesday)

As always we arrived earlier than any other workers at LCR office . We turned on the lights , opened the
book shelves and the office of the head and wiped the floors . Greeted every person we met as always.
Continued putting scotchtapes in each papers or birth certificates finally we are on the year 1999 . We
have learned to love what we are doing as it becomes our daily routine . At 11am I went out the office
for some important matters in technolympics I attended . I asked permission first to our head and co-
workers . I went back at the office at exactly 1pm after the lunch break to continue our work . Mrs.
Palomo asked us also to arrange the mails or letters that had been sent to her , which contains requests
of their certificates from different City Halls and Municipality . We always clean the office before we go
out .

December 12, 2018 (Wednesday)

Arrived earlier again than the others . As soon as the office opened we did our daily routine . Again and
again continued our work since there are still a bundle of papers needed to put scotchtapes . But in the
middle of the day we ran out of scotchtapes again . So our co-workers gave us another work to do. They
let us write at the book of records . We record all the new documents for the year 2018 . We use black
ballpen if the registration is on time and red ballpen if the registration is delayed . We also arrange the
papers below the table in ascending order . That's what we did until our end time . Fixing all the papers
before we went home .

December 13, 2018 (Thursday)

The City Hall of Sipalay will Celebrate their Christmas Party and Employees' Night at 6pm. So we still
have our regular work time. Every person in the office aren't that so busy at work they are preparing for
their Party night . So we just decided again to buy scotchtapes at the Public Market outside since we got
nothing to do . As soon as we had the scotchtapes , we continued to work with all the papers left
undone . Our head , Mrs. Palomo dismissed us early at exactly 4pm in the afternoon because they will be
preparing for their Party . She already gave us our records or the grading sheet and luckily we got a
score of 100 . She had given us also a gifts . A key chain from Cebu, Simala and a paper bill of P150 pesos
to be specific . We take picture with her and thanked her so much . We went home with a great smile on
our faces and grateful to God for an unexpected and overflowing blessings ! He blessed us much more
than we deserved.
December 14, 2018 (Friday)

Last day of our Work Immersion, Last day of the weekdays . The workers told us that they appreciated
us for being punctual as always and being obedient and helpful or workaholic towards our works and
they told us they are thankful that we are chosen to work with them because we can do multi-tasking

especially our climbing powers . We are so glad to hear all those positive qualities they obsereved
towards us . We did all the best we can on our work as always especially this day , our last day . The
head of the office dismissed us as early as 11am and told us we already completed the 80 hour . So that
we can rest early and for a reward also to us. It's quiet sad to say goodbye to all the people we had been
with for 10 days . It feels like we are comfortable working with them but this was the last day and we are
done already. We bid goodbye , kissed and hugged each of them. And clean the office for the last time
before we went outside .

Reflection After the

Work Immersion

Having the immersion was

really a good start to
experience how does it feels
to be in a work place. I was so
fortunate enough to be
assigned in a good
department with good
people also . At first I felt nervous since it was our first time hands on in working . I applied also
some things that were taught and I've learned in school to some tasks that were given to us .
Especially on how to manage and analyze things that you know nothing about. Being
expeditious and the focus to the task given . Counting money as well as when they ask us to get
an official receipts for the said persons. After a few weeks of immersion, I have realized some
things that will really be useful for my future. First, punctuality is very essential because in this
simple way, they'll know how serious you are to your job, next would be patience. Patience
when it comes to the tasks that they’re going to give you, as well as the times that you’re just
waiting for the next task that will be given to you, even if you already got bored waiting for
nothing. And lastly, always poses a positive attitude. Because positivity is next to tranquility. To
sum it all up, I am glad for another experiences that I will treasure the most. There, I have
experienced new things that aren’t familiar with the things I usually do at school. I have met
new people and learned something new also .
