Short description of fault:

On Dt. 15.01.2020 at 19:52 hrs, 132kV Pishor- Padegaon line tripped simultaneously with fault on
132kV Pishor-Sawangi line. The details are as below:

Tripping Analysis & remedial majors carried out:

The 132 kv padegaon pishor line tripped in Z2 at 132 kv padegaon end and Z4 at 132kv pishor end.
Also 132 kv pishor sawangi line tripped from sawangi end only in Z2 .At pishor end circuit breaker not
tripped for 132 kv Sawangi bay due to non availability of distance relay. The backup relay setting of said bay
was reduced & made sensitive but as it is of electromagnetic type the setting i.e. ROT (200 mSec) is kept for
remote end fault. However, The same relay not operated with time due to relay inertia causing fault cleared
from remote end in Zone-II from 220 kV Sawangi & 220 kV Padegaon end.
The distance relay for 132 kV Pishor-Sawangi line is replaced on 16.01.2020.

Restoration activities carried out by the respective O&M Staff:

1. 132 kV Padegaon line charged at 20:25 Hrs DT:15.01.2020

2. 132 kV Sawangi line charged at 21:37 Hrs DT:15.01.2020

Suggestion to O&M authorities to avoid such recurrence:

It is suggested to arrange for regular line patrolling to avoid such recurrence
