The art of getting things done through the efforts of other people.

With this context i believe its saying that being in a managerial position gives you the ability to
get certain task within the workplace done or taking care of by teaching and allowing your team
or co-worker to do and finish such assignments, it's about be able to allow others to also grow
within the work setting. Being a manager dont neccesarily means i have to be over my
employees at all times making them feel like a slave but to allow them to also manage thier own
work as i'm managing them so we all can be better.
In Some cases, some Managers believes that once their a manager they have the rights to boss
people around and with what the context of this course text mentioned "The art of getting things
done through the efforts of other people",they tend to use this opportunity to sometimes mistreat,
overworked, sometimes even short pay their employees.
A good Manager will always do their best to help grow his or her team within the work place, and
some of the way this can accomplish is by entrusting your workers to do some of the task you
would do, this will give thema chance to have an insight of how to manage or even an idea of
career change in some cases, doing this aslo helps you as a manager to gain trust and respect
from them, they'll be open to your ideas, your plans for the business etc. and when you have that
kind of team to work with then you'll have a successful company.

Thank you Denise for your post. i like the way you have presented your points more especially
centering around delegation of duties and also allowing staff to manage their own work. I believe
that is a key in building team work. Monitoring, evaluation and performance appraisals could also
help in getting things done through the efforts of other people.

Great points about believing in your team and giving them the opportunity to grow. I have used
this technique in the past to help 'groom' employees to become leaders in their own right. Once
you have trust and respect, the goals become aligned much easier.

I love this I personally have worked in a place where the manger was definitely abusing their
position. You saying “managers will do their best to help their team grow” and give them insight
for how to manage, some mangers definitely need to read and act upon this. This is definitely
information I’m going to keep and mind.

Hi Denise,
I am Happy you almost explain the same idea with me. Most managers fails to manage thier
emplyees well because they just want to use thier employees to get the job done by all means,
but failing to guide them to do the work well. For a manager to manage a company or business
so well, he/she need to start by controling and guiding the employees as a leader and not a
ruller.
Thanks.

Hi Denise,
Good work. You were right when you said: "Being a manager dont neccesarily means i have to
be over my employees at all times making them feel like a slave but to allow them to also
manage thier own work as i'm managing them so we all can be better" . It is true that the
employee need his space and the trust to do things. However, he/she does all his work in a
perfect way but that does not mean that he/she is owned by the company or the manger. Also,
the good manger who is listen to the employees ideas and suggestions too.
I was looking for your example as being manger.

Very insightful post. I agree that management should be concerned about the growth and
development of the employees, not just about presiding over them, in essence being
taskmasters. It should be a collaborative effort. Managers should serve more as guides and
directors.
