This chapter presents the related literature and studies that will give

support on the investigation and findings of the study. The information gathered

from a wide range of reading sources such as textbooks, research journals, and

other publication sources from the internet to help the readers understand the

topics relevant to the study.

Calamansi is a sour fruit resembles a small mandarin, it is also called

calamondin, calamonding, calamandarin, golden lime, panama orange, Chinese

orange, and acid orange. Calamansi is very indigenous in the Philippines; they

use it to a beverages or sauce to enhance the flavor or taste of the food. It can

be sold in the market in the cheap price and can be found in residential backyard

as an ornament. Its juice is the best thirst quencher. The acid contain of the lime

is known to slow down the oxidation of fresh cut fruits and vegetables thus

preventing discoloration and acts as a preservative. Calamansi is a small citrus

fruit, like an orange, with skin and flesh that are green in color. The pulp of the

lime taste sour, the fruit contains twice the amount of juice as the yellow larger

lemon. Calamansi has the properties of Aromatic, antiseptic, antichloristic,

carminative, deodorant; refrigerant.it is also suggested as antimicrobial,

antianxiety, antidepressant, hepatoprotective, expectorant, antioxidant

properties. It also has medicinal uses like lightening freckles, mouthwash, cure

coughs and phlegm, helpful in dealing with hang over, prevent and cure

osteoarthritis. Maintains kidney health, great tonic for the liver, prevent diabetes

and lightens urine color, lowers body cholesterols, as perfume and as underarm

whitening.

Calamansi’s cultivation is spread throughout in the Southeast Asia,

Central and North America, India and Hawaii. The calamansi is also called

Golden Lime, Acid Orange, Calamondin, and Calamonding. In the Philippines it

is called Kalamasi.

Calamansi is also used for stain removal. They conducted this research to

protect the hands from strong chemicals, like zonrox. It is the alternative product

for removing stains, because calamsi is cheaper. It is cheap and don’t contain

harmful. Calamansi has many uses, it is used a skin moisturizer, skin whitening

such as underarm, knee and other part of our skin. It is also an alternative cure

for pimples by rubbing the calamansi on your skin. It is also used to treat

dandruff. The calamansi is also known to heal wounds and it can prevent the

damage on the eyes.

Calamasi has many uses. It is used to prevent body odor. It is also used

sometimes to clean the chopping board to disinfect it. You can use calamansi for

tooth decay, bleeding of the gums and fragility of the bones.

and that is calamansi extract. Calamansi can be found locally and can also be

found in residential backyard which we are going to use as underarm whitening.

Citrofortunella microcarpa or what we called ‘’calamansi’’ is a shrub or a small

popular citrofunella, it is intergenetic hybrid between the genes of a citruss and

kumquat. Calamansi is known by various names throughout the world the most

popular ones are calamonding, calamondin orange, calamansi, calamandarin,

golden lime, kalamunding, kalamansi, philipppine lime, panama orange, Chinese

orange, musk orange, and acid orange. Calamansi is widely cultivated in different

parts of the world such as Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and southern china.

Calamansi has a distinct characteristic of wing-like appendages on the leaf stalks

and white r purplish flowers. Each fruit bears to 8 to 10 seed each.

The Researchers is looking for cheap but effective underarm whitening

and the calamansi extract is the cheaper but effective that is used. Calamansi

can easily found in your backyard or in any stores. It is affordable and it can be

use not only in the underarm. Calamansi has many uses, the calamsi extract can

use for stain removal, toothdecay, skin whitening, curing pimples, healing

wounds, disinfecting the utensils, for cough, treat dandruff, etc. As we can see

nowadays, womens searching for underarm whitening and skin moisturizer that

is affordable, some girls are being shy to show their underarm, because it is dark,

so calamansi is the answer for their dark underarm, it is cheap but effective. It

can be apply in any ages. Even baby use the calamansi, to keep the skin of the

baby moisturize and fair.
