INTRODUCTION
Scalp care is crucial since it determines the health and condition of the hair and helps to
avoid scalp and hair problems. Coconut milk protects hair from damage during the grooming
procedure. This action appears to be due to coconut milk's ability to enter the hair cuticle and
cortex (J Cosmet Sci, 2003). Hair is a one-of-a-kind biocomposite that continues to astound us
due to its complexity in structure, morphology, content, and physical qualities. Hair, in addition
to shielding the head from external assaults, plays an essential function in one's attractiveness,
image, and social acceptability. Although the hair arises from the scalp, it really spends almost
12-18 months exposed to the external environment in the case of participants with longer hair. It
sustains different damages over time as a result of several external causes like washing,
shampooing, combing, dyeing, environmental exposure (pollution, humidity, etc.), and physical
therapies (straightening, perming, etc.). These variables all impact hair health differently,
manifesting as weak, dull, stiff, harsh, and unmanageable hair (Wolfram LJ, 2003).
The condition of the hair plays an important role in our physical appearance and
self-perception. The quantity, quality, and styling of our hair define our gender, age, health, and
social status. There are no significant differences in the number of hair follicles between men and
women, or between the different races. Differences in the appearance of hair are due to the type
of hair produced by the follicle and the type of hair care practiced by the individual (Ralph et al.,
2018).
In order to maintain a healthy scalp and keep your hair healthy and shining on a daily
basis. Experts have combined the effectiveness of coconut milk and aloe vera as hair
conditioners. According to Femima (2019), coconut milk is known for its magnanimous content
of vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5, and B6 as well as iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium,
and phosphorus. Aloe vera contains vitamins A, C, and E. All three of these vitamins contribute
to cell turnover, promoting healthy cell growth and shiny hair( Watson,2020). In fact, because of
those nutrients, the scalp remains nourished and hair follicles are strengthened, thereby
promoting hair growth. What’s more, because of their brilliant moisturizing capacity, coconut
milk, and aloe vera can help you keep your hair smooth and silky ( Femima, 2019).
Human hair serves the purpose of protecting the scalp against the burning sun and
avoiding foreign objects that could hurt the skin or enter the body, as well as physical
attractiveness to the perception of beauty. One way to maintain healthy hair is to use conditioner,
which helps to moisturize hair and makes it shinier and frizz-free. Some types of conditioner
include leave-in sprays and lotions, deep-conditioning treatments, and the most popular rinse-out
conditioner. However, some conditioner products contain harmful ingredients that are bad for the
scalp. For example, sulfate, triclosan, retinyl palmitate, and fragrance. It is recommended to use
conditioner after each shampoo to replace moisture since conditioner helps to smoothen and
detangles the hair, which prevents breaking and split ends (Fasanella, 2020).
Coconut has a ton of moisturizing and nourishing qualities. Almost everything about it,
including its flesh, water, oil, and milk, can be employed in some capacity for its beautifying
properties. It is one of the most traditional and organic ingredients and has been used for
generations to heal difficulties with the skin, the scalp, and the hair. Coconut milk, a natural fruit
rich in niacin and vitamins, is one of the best things to use to treat hair. It improves blood
circulation in your scalp, fights damage, and conditions hair deeply (Sanya H., 2020).
Aloe vera is a plant that supposedly has healing capabilities that are helpful for our scalp
and hair. It contains a variety of vitamins and minerals, enzymes, amino acids, natural sugars,
and agents that may be anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial (J. Chem. Pharm. Res., 2010).
Since ancient times, people have known and used aloe vera plants for the benefit of their health,
Shampoo use has been linked to hair damage, most likely as a result of frequent
applications eroding surface structures. Aloe vera gel and coconut milk have well-known
health-promoting qualities, and because of the many advantages they offer to your hair, they are
also incredibly nourishing. Aloe vera provides anti-fungal capabilities to maintain a healthy scalp
and healing enzymes that restore damaged dead skin cells. By mending and bolstering the hair, it
This study is conducted regarding coconut milk and aloe vera and their applicability and
functions as hair products with the objective to answer the following question;
a. What are the side effects and good effects of using coconut milk and aloe vera on the
human scalp and hair?
b. How bad can the side effects be and how do the good effects outweigh them?
c. How effective is using homemade and natural products, and how does it compare to
commercialized products?
d. What factors make the respondents favor regular shampoo and conditioner over aloe vera
and coconut milk?

Conceptual Framework
This diagram depicts the study's conceptual framework. In order to adequately show its
principles in an orderly manner, the researchers used the Input-Process-Output (IPO) model in
the research study.
Coconut milk and aloe vera are the experimental components. Together with the
step-by-step method of mixing the components and using the finished product correctly. The
final result will be recorded, determining if the product is successful as a hair conditioner as well
as its additional advantages.
