Yesterday’s South Side Fire
It was hotter than a homecoming bon fire early Thursday
afternoon on 4th Avenue South as a metal shed owned
by Drew Markle went up in smoke. Cause of the
blaze was not definitely determined, but there will be
no investigation as the old structure was not insured.
Fortunately there were no injuries. Interestingly, I was
standing outside the back door of BS Central ordering
a Eugene’s pizza for our lunch shortly before 12:30
when smoke started to appear to the south. At first I
thought “Hmmm.... someone’s having a little trouble
with their Traeger,” (been there done that), but then
the smoke really started to billow followed by sirens
blaring. Rachel grabbed the camera and zipped over

plates sitting in the middle of the intersection watching
and here comes the fire trucks,” she noted. And
thanks to the rapid response by crew members of our
Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department, the blaze was
quickly doused as the thick black smoke soon turned to
a light gray. Rachel, a devoted fan to the Chicago Fire
series, explained that the color of the smoke indicates
to firefighters the type and density of the fuels involved,
all of which gives hints as to what the fire might do
next. As a general rule, the darker the smoke, the more
volatile the fire is. Grey smoke can indicate that the fire
is slowing down and running out of materials to burn.

OBITUARY
Delmer Meidinger
Delmer John Meidinger
went home to the Lord
Sunday September 27th.
He was born on October
11th to Elmer and Marion
(Bickle) Meidinger in
Marsh, MT.
He grew in North
Eastern MT and graduated from Glasgow MT. He later
relocated to Forsyth MT, where he met and married the
love of his life Wilma (Clifton) Meidinger on July 18th
1998.
He worked many different jobs until he was injured
working for Rosebud County. Delmer was a very kind
spirit that loved baking, cooking, fishing, and spending
as much time with his wife and family as he could.
Delmer is survived by his wife Wilma Meidinger his two
brothers Duane and Mark Meidinger, his seven sisters
Barbara WA, Marrietta (Howard) OR, Diane (Richard)
PA, Dorothy (Edward) WA, Gloria WA, Lovonne (Fred)
CA, and Renee TX.
He was preceeded in death by his parents Elmer
and Marion and his sister Lorraine Meidinger.
A memorial service will be held Friday October
9th at 2:00pm at Grace Bible Church in Miles City MT.
There will be a small service in the future in Glasgow
MT for those who are unable to attend.

I have to admit something to you

I’m not proud of what I did but I feel
I must be honest with you, especially
those of you who have been with me since my days at the
(shudder) Courier. Here’s the true story of what I did and
you heard it first right here.
I watched, listened to and actually took notes of the
most insidiously reckless, inane, insipid, moronic and
childishly stupid debate in the history of debates. And to
make it more bullishly ignorant it was a debate to see who
is most fit to become the next president of the greatest
country in the world. Well, I must say that most Germans
will say that about their own nation as will the French,
Spanish, Icelanders, and of course the Jamaican bobsled
team. But in our case it’s true!
Anyway I saw the handwriting on the Great Wall
when, in the preamble a few minutes before the debate
the MSM (Main Str....aw hell you know who I mean) cited
Trumps faults eight times in about three minutes and all
the while zero times did they say anything negative about
the Harris/Biden or the Biden/Harris ticket, depending
on whether you wear lipstick or after shave lotion. The
$750 tax bill was brought up several or more times as
well.
It was, in my opinion and the opinion of others
as well, that this was a 90 minute S**tShow, or for you
folks less approving of crudeness in language, diarrhea-
of-the-mouth which involved both sides of the political
spectrum. The true word to describe the situation is
logorrhea. I used it once way back in the day.
I wouldn’t vote for either one of those clowns but if
I were to have a mental collapse and cast a ballot I would
still have to vote in favor of Trump. He’s the devil we know
while Biden is the devil unknown, plus the creepy feeling
that if elected Joe Biden wouldn’t last six months in office
before proceedings would begin about the deterioration
of his mental health and within six months of that we
will be looking at Kamala Harris running the country
with Nasty Nancy in the second seat. Members of the
infamous and self-proclaimed “Tribe” will be appointed
to the cabinet and the rest of us would be assigned to the
soup pot!
Folks are making a big deal about that Trump only
paid $750 in taxes for 2016 and 2017. Well I say this to
you folks who have a tendency to cheat on your own
taxes, and you know who you are: people who live in
thatch huts shouldn’t throw matches at those who don’t,
or something like that. (If I sounded a bit like those in last
night’s debate with that last sentence I apologize.)
I thought Chris Wallace did a tolerable job with
refferr-reeing these two morons. One can’t yell “SHUT
UP YOU IDIOT” to a sitting president can one? Although
at one pernt in the conversation Biden did call Trump
a “Clown.” Trump accused Biden of wearing earbuds.
Biden mentioned Trump’s $7,000 yearly haircut budget.
And did I really hear Biden say something like of the
200,000 who died how many of the 200k survived? Yikes.
Neither one would actually answer any question
posed by moderator Wallace and both got off topic on
every question. It was the most pain-filled,wasted 90
minutes of my lifetime!
On a supreme court question Biden off-tracked by
saying that 100,000,000 people in the US have pre-existing
medical conditions. Trump said no way a hundred
million! I say every one of us have a dire preexisting
medical condition......it’s called death!
At any rate the next debate needs either sound proof
rooms like the old quiz shows had or a remote allowing
the moderator to kill the candidates microphones when
it’s not their time to babble. I think it was the Democrats
who put the kibosh on both of those options when
discussing the rules of the debate. Shock collars might be
an option? Love it!!
This debate, shameful that it was on both sides, was
like watching a hockey game.....there didn’t seem to be
any rules what-so-ever.
I didn’t see anything there that would indicate a
winner. They both lost and America lost because of their
childish insanity.

After hearing someone tell a questionable story
about how a priest, a rabbi, and a minister walked into
a bar together, USA Today published a 1,200-word fact
check on the tall tale. FOR SALE
Citing over 15 sources to cast doubt on the story,
USA Today handily dismantled the fib. 2015 Polaris

showed up and deposited a cow in the bar and the
part where Prince walked in. “Wikipedia says Prince
has been dead for years, so that part is immediately
questionable.”
USA Today found the story “false” and will $5,000
receive a Pulitzer Prize for the publication’s amazing

Dawgs rout Wildcats, hosting Colts tonight

It was a piece of cake or even a cake walk. Friday
night the Glasgow Scotties destroyed Harlem in a
Northern B football contest. The win was the 26th
against the Wildcats, without a loss.
The game started off with an old trick play with
Harlem recovering its onside kick, but was not able
to move the ball. In fact, Mayson Phipps recorded a
quarterback sack, and then Colten Fast intercepted a
Rider pass to set up Glasgow’s first score.
After that it was all Glasgow as the Scotties put
up 40 points in the first quarter on their way to a 64-8
thumping. The Dawgs scored on all six possessions in
the first half and 8 of 10 possessions in the game.
Jesse Lee scored the first 14 points, scoring on a
1-yard run with 9:52 to play and on a 5-yard run with
8:16 to go in the first quarter.
After Fast’s interception the Dawgs took over on
their own 39 yard line. It took Glasgow seven plays to
get the ball into the end zone. Loden Idler ran 13 yards
to get the ball into Harlem territory, followed by Lee’s 12
yard run. The Hinsdale senior carried the ball six times
in the drive for 48 yards. He also ran in the two-point
conversion.
Glasgow (5-0, 3-0) caught Harlem napping on
the ensuing kickoff when the Dawgs recovered the ball
before it went out of bounds. The Wildcats thought the
ball was going out so they could take it on the 35 yard
line. That sent up the Dawgs next score with Lee caring
the ball three times from the 21. Idler scored the two-
point conversion.
Phipps recovered a Rider fumble, returning it
37-yards for a touchdown. Lee ran in the PAT for a 24-0
lead with 8:02 to play.
The defense scored a safety when Phipps sacked
Rider in the end zone for a 26-0 lead. Glasgow then
tacked on another TD with Idler broke for a 24-yard
score with 6:03 left in the first quarter. Lee again ran in
the Two-point conversion for a 34-0 lead.
Dawson Boland set up the next score with his
interception. Tel Aune tipped the pass that landed in
Boland’s waiting arms. Glasgow marched 37 yards,
capping the drive off with Kyler Hallock’s 5-yard run for
a 40-0 lead with 1:50 left in the first stanza.
Glasgow scored twice in the second quarter with
the clock running. Dalton Sand went in from 10-yards
out and scored the PAT for a 48-0 lead with 7:48 to play
in the half. Tatum Hansen scored from 5-yards out with
Jordan Plummer hauling in a Mason Donaldson pass
for the PAT and 56-0 lead.
Harlem scored its only touchdown with 30 seconds
to play in the third quarter when Rider connected with
Rasmussen for a 67-yard score. Rider also hit Hughes
for the two-point conversion.
Glasgow capped off the scoring with Nik Burke
taking the ball from 4-yards out and Plummer running
in the two-point conversion for the 64-8 score.
The Dawgs junior varsity played the entire second
half, punting twice.
Glasgow racked up only 219 total yards with 162
coming on the ground. The Dawgs had good field
position most of the night.
Lee rushed for 83 yards, Idler had 24 yards, Sand
23, Hallock 21, Hansen 17, and Donaldson 11.
Harlem finished with 198 total yards with 165
coming through the air.
Glasgow hosts Colstrip tonight in the homecoming
contest.
