I - Course Name: First Aid and Water Safety

II – Course Description: The scope of this course covers the principles of first aid in
emergencies, different methods of transfer, application of artificial respiration and treatment
of shock, first aid in case involving burns and convulsions, immobilizing and transferring the
victim to a place of safety, and transporting the injured to the hospital. It also includes a
special instructions in swimming and forms of rescue operation, resuscitation in the recovery
of submerged victims, safety measures and accident prevention.

III – No. of Units: 2 units: 2 hour lecture / unit

IV – No. of Hours per Week: 2 hours

V – Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, the students should be able to understand these
objectives:

1. Identifying the cause of injury and acting.


2. Prioritize and be time wise.
3. Understand the working of human body.
4. Understand the role as first aid provider, do not play doctor.

Actual Application - 40%
Deportment/Attendance - 5%
Total - 100%
