A mother of a first-year high school student complained to Mrs. Aragos, the adviser of her son. “Why did
you place my son in the Bridge Program? I know my son too well. He can read, he can write, and he can
even speak English. I heard him talking to the American husband of his aunt and the latter could
understand him well. Besides, another year of schooling means additional expenses. I really don’t
understand this program”. Mrs. Aragos was a little bit rattled but she managed to explain to the mother why
her son had to go through the Bridge Program

3.Describe the reaction of the teacher when she learned about the problem of the student.
The problem presented in this caselet was the student of Ms. Guerra was sexually abused by her
own father. The teacher discovered by asking the student what is the problem because she observed some
changes in the student. She noticed that her student doesn’t participate in group activities and recitations;
the student was unusually quiet and seldom interacts with her classmates and her teacher; and she was
late and often absent in her class. The teacher was shocked as the student confided her problem. When a
student is going through something, they are not in the right mind to make their own decisions. They may
also try to end their own lives because of the problems they are facing. As a teacher, it is her role to give
advice to her student and let the student understand that what her father did to her was wrong. This
problem should go on the process of legal actions which is based in the law of the country. The teacher is
not only the source of knowledge but also a legal counsel that can be trusted in confiding serious issues
and informing the students what actions they should do in order for the student to make the right decision

In this caselet, the problem was the students were conducting a fraternity initiation within the
vicinity of the school campus. In conducting a fraternity there is an initiation rite which the students may
undergo physical and metal test that is needed to pass in order to be accepted in the group. The problem is
the students conduct it in the school premises which the teachers and the faculty of the school are
responsible if something bad happen during the initiation. The teacher found out through a student who
informed him that there is a fraternity initiation conducted in the school. The teachers’ automatic response
with that instance is they will hurriedly go to the place where the occurrence happens just like what Mr.
Vallejo did. It is the role of the teacher to discipline the students when they do something inappropriate
which may lead to harm others. They should be responsive in order to prevent thing that may harm the
welfare of their students.

The Barangay Chairman of Brgy. Tala-Tala wanted to initiate an information campaign about illegal drugs.
But he and his councilmen lacked the knowledge and resources about this particular topic. They didn’t even
know how to start, so they asked the help of one of the teachers in Tala-Tala High School.
1.What problem confronted the barangay chairman?
2.What step did he take to address the problem?
The problem that the barangay chairman encounter was they are lack of knowledge and resources
to initiate an information campaign about illegal drugs. The first step they did is to seek help to one of the
teachers in Tala-Tala High School. They made the right decision because the teachers are known as a
source of knowledge to the students. Teachers should not just settle in their comfort zone which is the
classroom but they should be open in opportunities specifically in spreading information and knowledge not
only to their students but also to the people in their community. Teachers should be knowledgeable not only
with what the student need to learn but also with the current events that is happening in our community and
in the world as well.
