WHAT’S IN

A Dictionary is a book that gives the meaning of words and other


informations such as spelling, syllabication, pronunciation, word class
and origin or etymology.

A Thesaurus is a reference book that gives synonyms and antonyms


of a word.

Words listed in the dictionary are arranged alphabetically and use


guide words to help the reader locate the word.

The internet provides information and meaning through stored data


and literature and various texts called online resources.

ASSESSMENT

Directions: Read the short article about hand washing and answer the
following questions. You may use a dictionary, thesaurus or any other
online resource.

Washing your hands properly is one of the most important things you
can do to help prevent and control the spread of many illnesses. Good hand
hygiene will reduce the risk of sicknesses such as influenza, food poisoning
and other nosocomial infections.
Hands carry lots of germs and should be washed regularly. Washing
your hands will help stop the spread of coronavirus. In case water and soap is
not readily available, a person may opt to use hand sanitizer or alcohol based
cleansing solutions. Just make sure to wash hand as soon as possible
because hand washing is still the best defense against getting sick.
