physically fit and it will tone our muscle. It
can also foster bonding to other people.

Correct, what are the differences between these

two? Trekking is not following a trail ma’am while
hiking is walking through hiking trails.
But unlike hiking, trekking is done to explore
remote and undeveloped places without any
means of transportation.
And also hiking takes shorter time to be done
than trekking which takes long days or
weeks.
That’s right. And I remembered that I gave you an
assignment.

Okay, please pass your assignments to your front

and first row please pass it to the center aisle.

C. Motivation

Before we start our lesson

You will be divided into two groups, and then you

will make this puzzle.

make)

After making the puzzle, you need to answer this

question:

who:

a) need contributions from each members

to succeed,
b) share a common purpose and set of
goals and approaches,
c) hold themselves accountable for
accomplishments of goals.

winner.

D. Discussion

What do you think of our topic for today? Ma’am it is about team, or team building.

Correct, we will be discussing about team building

and school camping.
First, what is team building for you? Team building is the activities done in a team
to build some bonds with each other.

That’s correct.

Team building refers to the various activities that

motivate and improve the performance of
individuals and the team they belong to.

What do you think are the benefits of team

building? (The students will answer)

Okay, thank you. All your answers are correct. But

I have here the main benefits of a teambuilding,
please read.
• Strengthens the bond between
participants;
• Pushes them to achieve their goal;
• Develops their efficiency and
effectiveness by improving their
interaction and understanding of their
respective roles.

Working in a team will bring you these different

benefits.

Aside from enjoying the different activities during

the team building, do you know that you can
organize a team building? Meaning you will be the
one who will facilitate such activity and it can be
your career in the near future.

But, being a facilitator has these characteristics.

What are those characteristics?
First we have - 1. Speak confidently in front of large
groups;
Why do we need to have this characteristic?
Because ma’am being a facilitator you must
be confident on what you are speaking and
ofcourse a good communicator.
That’s correct.
Next we have,
2. Lead others;
Why a facilitator does needs to lead others?
Since, the facilitator is the one who is
organizing the activity he/she must be an
A facilitator is an effective leader. That’s correct. effective leader.
Next,
3. Guide a group through a learning
process;

Why a facilitator does needs to guide the group

through learning process? Because ma’am, in every activity the
participants are participating, they should
always get a learning through it. Activities
must be done in purpose where participants
can learn. And also, a facilitator must guide
the group because it is his/her work to do so.
Absolutely.
Next, 4. Shape how people can agree to meet
their goals;

Why a facilitator must have this characteristic? A facilitator must give activities that promote
teamwork, collaboration, camaraderie and
bonding of the participants. Through this, a
facilitator can help the group work on a team
to target or achieve their goals.

And lastly, we have,

5. Be objective and neutral when facing
criticism and resolving conflict.

Why a facilitator must have this characteristic? Because a facilitator must be fair and flexible
and open for the diversity of the participants.

That’s right. A facilitator must be fair and flexible

and open for the diversity of the participants to
avoid bias and favouritism.

Do you have all of these characteristics? Yes ma’am.

Do you see yourself as a future team building Yes ma’am.
facilitator?

Okay. Any questions? Nothing ma’am.

Let’s move on.

We have 5 key aspects in creating a team building
program.

1. Objectives –
 What is the main purpose of the
program?
 What issues should be addressed?
2. Profile –
 Profile of each participant.
 Age, gender, grade level or job type,
medical history, current injury or
illness and allergies should be taken
into consideration to ensure that the
activities will be suitable and safe for
them.
3. Preferences –
 Kinds of activities the participants
are inclined to.
 Do you prefer indoor or outdoor
adventures?
 Make sure there is a good mix of
both types to cater to all
participants.
4. Assessment of Success –
 Verbal feedback by using
observation reports or surveys.
 You can conduct pre- and post-
event surveys to know how the
event affected team dynamics.
5. Location –
 Accessible and has the appropriate
amenities and facilities for the line-
up of activities.

We also have 5 significant elements of Team

Building Activity

1. Orientation – orientation is the make-or-

break part of any team building program, as
this is where you set the pace for the entire
event and leave a lasting impression on the
participants
2. Designing - The right orientation will lead to
this element. In designing, you should
consider the following elements.

 Group story - current issues of the

team, previous team building
experience, profile

We need to now first our participants, their past

previous experiences about the same activity for us
to be able to make an activity that is suitable for all
the participants.

Next we have:

 Space- time-context – setting

(indoor/outdoor) and the duration of
the activity
Of course, kind of activity is very important to
know where are we going to conduct such activity,
to ensure that the participants will have a
conducive environment for the activity.

And last, we have:

 Goals – desired outcomes of the

activities

Outcomes are very important in everything.

Because in the end of the activity it will help you
determine if you have achieved what are your
desired goals for the participants, if you have
targeted your objectives.

Next element, we have:

3. Framing –
 It answers “How the activity is going
to be introduced to the team?”
 It also provides information about
what the team is doing, why they
are doing it, and how should be
participating.

Next,

4. Delivery –
For better delivery, you should be able to:
 Adjust or modify the rules, duration,
and equipment based on the present
state of the activity;
 Introduce new information
 Pose a stimulating question
 Reset the activity

And last, we have,

5. Debriefing –

Observations from the participants must be drawn

out.

Ask them what they saw, heard, learned and felt

during the activity and whether these could be
applied to their needs.

So those are the 5 significant elements of Team

Building Activity. Again what are those?

1. Orientation
2. Designing
3. Framing
4. Delivery
5. Debriefing

Very good.
Any questions? Nothing ma’am.

Okay, let’s move on to school camping. (the students responses vary)

Does anyone experience already being in a camp?
Or joining a camp?

During you junior high school or elementary days?

Have you ever join a school camp?

Camping,

1. Allow you to experience simple adventures

appropriate for your age.

What activities have you done during the camp? We have different games ma’am.

2. It let you experience fun interaction among

yourselves, creates bond, and gives you an
opportunity to know each other well while
engaging in different educational and
interactive activities and games.

Why does interaction important during these kinds

of activities? Because ma’am we cannot do such activity
especially when it is group activity if we are
not talking to each other or making some
interaction.
Correct, that’s why interaction is very important
and through this bonding among group members
will be developed.
3. Helps you be familiar with the world outside
the school.

What activities in school camping that put you in a

real life situating? Ma’am it is when we are making and
preparing our own food and sometimes
ma’am we are the one who are making our
simple quarters made of bamboo.

Correct, so camping helps you be responsible

individual.

But the most important thing we must prepare

during camping is its basic requirements.

When going on a camp, we must bring what? 1. Appropriate clothing

2. Toiletries
3. Sleeping bag or tent
4. Medical kit or first aid kit

(the students responses vary)

That’s right. These are the basic requirements

during school camping.

E. Summary

Have you learned today? Any questions? Nothing ma’am.

Okay, any volunteer to share what he/she have (someone will volunteer and will share what
learned? he/she have learned)

Thank you.

Team building and school camping are both

activities that will give us a rest from school works.
It also fosters bonding among each other and other
values that a team must have. Lastly it helps us to
be prepared in the near future by exposing us to
activities that are useful and relevant. With these,
we can say that having fun is a must and we can
earn from it.

IV. Evaluation

A. Summative
Quiz:
1-4. What are the basic camping requirements?
5-9. What are the characteristic of a good facilitator?
10. What is the most important value a team must have?
V. Assignment

their mechanics or procedure. Encoded short bond paper.
