The symbols that were portrayed in the illustration was the evolution of
media. It also provides information on how communication developed
and how people used it in different eras. As I observed, the first man in
the picture symbolizes the first form of communication. As you can see
it was an image of a caveman holding a hammer and a rock. The fact
that it’s drawn on a rounded rock supports the idea that as the Earth
continues turning we continue to evolve. As we all know in this era,
people used to write messages on stone and walls. The next image was a
printing press as a movable type. The printing press allows us to share
large amounts of information quickly and in huge numbers. In fact, the
printing press is so significant that it has come to be known as one of the
most important inventions of our time. It drastically changed the way
society evolved. The image at the middle, Mass publication where print
media transmit information via physical objects, such as books, comics,
magazines, newspapers, or pamphlets. The man on a laptop or the
fourth man used electronic email making it faster and easier to
communicate. The last man is using a cell phone. A cell phone that
allows us to instantly communicate.

What I noticed is the transition from hands to feet. I thought that was a really
clever way of looking at the illustration. It really emphasizes the shift in
communication as well as culture/generation. It’s as if to say we are advancing
in technology but digressing in mental abilities. Evolution in this picture is
portrayed as movement. The last three cartoons are taking a step forward
implying movement while the first two are using their hands and implying
movement. The history of communication has developed and changed over
time. Technology has changed the way of communication.Communication is
thus enhanced. In today’s society, texting has become a way of life and real
communication is wiping out. The Millennial's are lacking common social cues
and the ability to properly communicate face-to-face because of their constant
use of communicating through technology.
Yes, I agree. How we communicate continued to evolve. Remember face-to-
face conversations? Hand-written letters? Waiting by the phone – the kind
with the cord? Technology perpetually reshapes our communication. The
evolution of technology is beneficial to humans for several reasons. The
invention of the computer was a very important point. Communication is thus
enhanced. Dependence on new technology. Man no longer needs to think.
Even if the calculator is a good invention, man no longer makes mental
calculation and no longer works his memory. They do not have enough time to
use their imagination or to read and think deeply about the material , they
might have difficulty developing social skills and emotional reactions . The
technology can lead to social isolation which is characterized by a lack of
contact with other people in normal daily living such as the workplace , with
friends and in social activities.
