A. Granite Flooring: -
 RCC slab or side brick wall shall be cleaned, wetted and mopped before fixing.
 Area shall be scrapped/cleaned/washed before starting the mortar bedding. The flooring
pattern shall be finalized.
 The bedding for the tile shall be with cement mortar 1:4 (1 cement: 4 coarse sand) or as
specified. The mortar of specified proportion and thickness shall then be evenly and smoothly
spread over the base by use of screed battens to proper level or slope (Wet Area). The
templates to required level and slope to be done well in advance.
 Laying of mortar to suitable thickness keeping reference templates in line dori to be
supervised from time to time.
 Neat cement paste shall be spreaded over mortar bedding and around the edges of the
stone. Then the stone shall be fixed close to the previous. Stone shall have a hairline
joint. Stone surface shall be pressed tapped gently with the wooden mallets till the stone
is in true line and level. Cement paste of the edges will try to come out from joints,
which should be strapped off. Again joints shall be filled up with neat cement paste to
fill up the gaps and surplus mortar shall be removed.
 Curing of flooring for 7 days by sprinkling water or by wetting.

B. Vitrified Flooring: -

In Floor:
 Concrete surface shall be cleaned of scales, laitance, set mortar etc. It shall be washed
with clean water.
 Marking of the finish level should be marked on the wall by lime with the help of string.
 Thaiya of the required finish level should be prepared in advance with the mortar
proportion (1:4).
 A bedding of cement mortar (1:4) and average 20 mm thick shall be laid evenly to the
required levels.
 The tiles of approved make should be laid on the bedding with a backing of thin cement
paste.
 All laid tiles should truly and evenly set & pressed in position to obtain a uniform and run
in perfect straight lines.
 The joints & pattern of the tiles should be maintained as per drawing.
 Joints should be filled up with approved pigment / cement as per the detail given in the
drawing.
 The entire finished surface should be thoroughly cleaned to remove all cement stains etc.
 Flooring should be kept wet for 7 days.

In Dado:

 Base surface should be thoroughly cleaned with clean water.

 Check for racking of masonry joints & hacking on the RCC surface.
 Make “Thaiya” of cement mortar of proportion (1:4) as per the required thickness.
 Carry out study of approved pattern in advance. Pattern of the tiles should be
marked on the wall by using line string.
 All tiles should be sufficiently wetted before starting the tiling work.
 Thaiya for tile finished level should be prepared in advance.
 Check for right angle, level etc. before starting the tiling work.
 Neat cement should be applied to the tiles & pressed on the wall.
 Carry out check for plumb, level & thickness of joints etc. during tiling work.
 Joints should be cured for 7 days.

C. Kota Stone Flooring: -

 Polished Kota stone shall be selected from good quarry (source) where stone
available is uniform in shade, hard and homogenous in texture, lamination. Stone
shall be machine polished at source and of required size and thickness as per
specification.
 FARMA shall be in true size and right angle (with zero tolerance) and should be
approved by the engineer.
 Average out the sizes, from the supply and make suitable FARMA.
 Hand dressing OR machine cutting of the edges shall be planned as per the
requirement. Hand dressed stones shall be grinded in suitable channel with fine
sand paper for obtaining sharp, straight edges.
 Initial check shall be done for color shade by washing the surface in yard itself, to
be followed by stack the finished stone with at least 3 different marks I/II/III.
While laying due care should be taken to use assorted stones in different rooms.
By this way color variation shall be adjusted room/area wise.
 Stone of broken edges/corner shall be used at other suitable location such as
skirting, residue etc.
 Area shall be scrapped/cleaned/washed before starting the mortar bedding, after
finalizing flooring pattern.
 Proportion of mortar shall be prepared as per specification.
 The thiayas shall be made to required level and slope well in advance as per
drawing. Laying of mortar to suitable thickness keeping reference thiayas in line
dori shall be supervised from time to time.
 Neat cement paste shall be spread over mortar bedding and around the edges of
the stone. Then the stone shall be fixed close to the previous stone and shall have
a hairline joint. Stone surface shall be pressed/tapped gently with the wooden
mallets till the stone is in true line and level. Cement paste at the edges will try to
come out from joints, which should be scrapped off. Again joints shall be filled up

with neat cement paste to fill up the gaps and surplus mortar removed. Suitable
color pigment shall be used for joint sealing to match with the stone color.
 Flooring shall continue at least 10mm inside the wall plaster line.
 Any irregularities (othas) due to natural bends in stones should be restricted to
2mm at joints.
 Curing of floor shall be carried out for 7 days by sprinkling water or by wetting.

Polishing
 Polishing shall be started after 14 days of completion of flooring work.
 Semi mirror polishing activity shall be follow only after adequate curing, the
sequence of polishing will be as under.
 One coat with emery stone - 40 no. by polishing m/c (heavy) which should even
out all irregularities (othas) and plus OR minus.
 Floor shall be washed and ragada is removed to check the joints. All joints shall
be re grouted with cement paste. Setting shall be allowed for at least 1 days.
 Two coat of emery stone - 60 no. by polishing m/c (heavy) which should even out
all irregularities.
 One coat of emery- 120 no shall be done by polishing machine to achieve even
surface.
 One coat of gutka shall be applied by polishing machine.
 Surface is fairly in level and without any scratch or lines of the machining.
 One coat by black kapchi and one coat by 120 no synthetic emery stone shall be
done and buffing shall be carried out. Now surface is even and scratch less as per
requirement.
 Flooring shall be clean by with Oxalic Acid to achieve the scratch less finished
surface.

6. Safety Measurement:
